Did you know that 71 different times in the New Testament it says the word HOPE? But get this, only one time is it found before the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Now I am no rocket scientist, but even I can deduct from that. GOD wants us to see that the Christian's hope and assurance is in the resurrection of Jesus Christ. The Bible says “if the resurrection of Jesus Christ is not true, the Christian faith is useless (1Cor15:14)

Jesus taught the upside down truth that only through death can you find real life. It isn’t just a comfort for the day you take your final breath, it is confidence, hope and joy for TODAY! The invitation and message of Easter is that dying to self leads to abundant life. Would you say that you are living the abundant life? Full of Hope, confidence and joy? It is available to all through Jesus’ resurrection.

The most upside down moment in human history was on a Friday when a Creator

was crucified by his creation. How do you make sense of that? From the time that Jesus

was born there was very little about HIS life that would make sense to us. He left the

throne of heaven to be laid in a feeding trough. He was born to a teenage mother in a “no

nothing” town. His earthly father was so poor that he was unable to make the traditional

sacrifice of a lamb, and he had to sacrifice two doves. And what do you do with his

disciples? How do you change the world with fishermen and tax collectors? Non-sense. I

mean..its upside down. But easily the most upside down moment of His life was his

death.

Why did GOD chose the cross? Why did he choose such a symbol of weakness?

And what difference does it make to you and me some 2000 years later? Well, if you

need some good news, I want to invite you to join me as I share with you what

GOD did for the cross, he can do for you. It’s a new beginning. Its transformational and

life changing.

There are times when studying the Bible that we find that the scriptural teachings seem upside down or backwards with the way we’ve been taught to see the world.

We are beginning a new series called “The Upside Down Way of the Kingdom.” As we look at the world through the eyes of Jesus, there may be times when everything feels upside down. Jesus promised, “If you abide in the truth, you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

Eventually you will start seeing through the eyes of Jesus and your life will be transformed.

Do you ever struggle over what to get someone you love for birthday gift? For an anniversary or Christmas gift? Will they really use this ? Will they like it? Will it convey to them how special they are to me? Will it make any difference to them 6 months from now?

If you have ever struggled with that question, I want to invite you to join me as we share the single most important gift we can give to those around us. Nothing beats- no birthday or anniversary gift, not monetary gains, not job opportunities, not even recognition or accolades. And it is truly the “gift that keeps on giving”.

Have you ever considered that your willingness to talk to or interact with another person could possibly change their eternity? It can. In a book study we did a few years ago, the opening story was about a businessman that was willing to “walk across the room”, introduce himself and befriend another man and eventually that man came to Christ and was forever changed.

As I have talked to many people and asked them how they came to Christ, their answers have been quite interesting. In almost every case, they pointed to a time when someone in a normal everyday situation reached out to them and invited them to church. I wonder what might unfold in Christendom if Christ followers like you and me, agreed to make it a practice to invite people we come in contact to church just to see what GOD might do in our spheres of influence.

We will be talking about what is possibly the most powerful practice in the Christian Life. You might say, “wait a minute, you’ve talked about prayer, right? We’ve talked about the bible, and we’ve talked about serving. But now you are saying that this is the most powerful

practice in the Christian life?”

Yes, and here’s why. Because what we are going to talk about in the realm of walking with God is what will keep you praying, what will keep you in God’s word, and what will keep you serving. It is rarely talked about in church today. Do you know what it is?
