There are guarantees all around us. Guarantees of product performance, guarantees of idealistic lifestyles, and guarantees for the guarantees! However, we know that we can't count on earthly guarantees, but we can count on broken promises. Unlike earthly guarantees, our Heavenly father is faithful in his promises. We can only count on the guarantees that He gives.

Jesus' disciples asked him to teach them to pray and in Luke 11, he began with what is widely known as the "Lord's Prayer." In Matthew, Jesus talks about the way to connect to God exhorting them that the Father knows what is needed before we ask!

What can we learn from David's story? He slew a giant with a sling; he became the enemy of a king; he was constantly at war; he hijacked another man's wife...and yet, he was a man after God's own heart.

2 Corinthians 5:14-21. Why do we do ministry? Ministry work can be inconvenient and exhausting. Why can't we just sit back and relax? If you have been reconciled with Christ, you have a ministry of reconciliation. As Christians, our commission is to point others to the cross so they can hear the good news of Jesus Christ. We spread that good news because that's what we must do. Jesus gave the commission to go into all the world and preach the gospel. As reconciled children of God, it is our privilege to honor God by sharing the message of reconciliation with others. As we reach out to the community through Upward and other ministries, or participate in mission work, we have the opportunity to reach others for Christ.

"So Ezra the priest brought the Law before the assembly, both men and women and all who could understand what they heard..." Imagine being in the gathering as Ezra read from the Book of the Law! The worshippers did not have lots of bibles in the pews or on a version on their iPhones. They came to listen and understand together as one. The people were attentive to the Book of the Law--they had a heart for God's word. Read this story in Nehemiah 8:1-11,
