More all-ages entertainment as ALL-STAR BATMAN & ROBIN THE BOY WONDER continues to entertain and bewilder in equal measure. Frank Miller introduces more characters and sub-plots whilst Jim Lee makes it look very glossy indeed. There’s steamy sex, broken bones and a potty mouthed 15 year old girl as DC does their version of Kick-Ass before Mark Millar does. But does it all end with a bang? Only if you’re the Black Canary!

It’s here! One of the most maligned and mocked pieces of comics art in recent years and yet one of the best selling. Frank Miller returns to the Batman and brings superstar artist Jim Lee with him for ALL-STAR BATMAN AND ROBIN THE BOY WONDER! Is it a wonderful piece of social satire that went over everybody’s heads or a piss-take of the highest order? If we can decide ourselves, we’ll give you an answer!

There’ll be fun, fun, fun until Daddy takes your catsuit away in today’s show were Andrew & Micheal eschew the dark, broody, complicated and deep and read J SCOTT CAMPBELL’S DANGER GIRL! There’s hiss-able bad-guys, skiing in the alps, explosions, gadgets, double cross and, lest we forget, lots of scantily clad female super spies. Adolescent male fantasy or female empowerment? Or just a great deal of fun? All these burning questions may be answered if you just download and listen.

The post-crisis revamp of the DC Universe continues as Micheal and Andrew through their peepers over the 2nd tier relaunches. The Flash #1 starts the legacy character era of Wally West as he takes on the mantle. How does he fare? Then, more legacies! John Stewart, Hal Jordan and Guy Gardner all appear in Green Lantern #1. Then, no legacy involved as Oliver Queen takes on the role of Elder Statesman in Green Arrow #1. All good stuff, some more than others.

It was the end of the world as they knew it and they felt fine. The red skies had passed, the world was shiny and new. And from the ashes of a convoluted continuity came a new DC, a DC not just for kids. More mature, grittier and more reflective of the world around. Yes, the POST-CRISIS DC is here! Kicking off the whole shebang is JOHN BYRNE’S first issue of ACTION COMICS #584 featuring the new, revamped SUPERMAN. Not exactly a new plot though. Then, Jason Todd makes his post-crisis debut in BATMAN#408 boosting the tires off the Batmobile! What a scamp. Finally, GEORGE PEREZ gives a fresh coat of paint to the Amazon Princess in WONDER WOMAN #1. It’s a brave new world.

In the second part of their look at the original alien costume saga, Micheal and Andrew discuss if the clothes really do make the man. Opening up with the concluding part of last week’s cliffhanger, Amazing Spider-Man #257 wraps up the Puma arc before the real story begins. ASM #258 has Spidey FINALLY get around to having this thing examined and Web Of Spider-Man #1 wraps the entire story up for good. Featuring the first appearance of Bag-Man! Does the conclusion of the tale find favour?

It came from another world and changed Spider-Man’s life – FOREVER! MWAA HA HA! Yes, Micheal and Andrew return, this time looking at a bunch of comics that collectively make up the story of Spider-Man’s black costume. There’s a discussion of the origins from SECRET WARS #8 and AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #252. Then, in a re-heated 80’s TV show plot, Spider-Man enters the dangerous world of American Football in ASM #253. Encounters with JACK O’LANTERN, the RED GHOST and his SUPER APES and PUMA follow (ASM 254 – 256) before Peter Parker starts to think there’s something rotten with his natty new duds. What will he do? Well, first he has to survive being killed by someone who desperately wants to be Kraven The Hunter!
