  • Episode 112: Scariest Kids Movies
High Five: The Podcast loves scaring kids, so any movie that is going to disturb a child for life is one we are a fan of. Many people would say that we're disturbed, so to honor that, we are dedicating this entire episode to discussing and ranking the Top 5 Scariest Kids Movies of All Time! Whether you were terrified of being turned into a mouse, traumatized by the plight of rabbits, or never able to look at a traveling circus the same way again, there's something in this episode for you.
Since Halloween is quickly approaching, we continue our deep dives into horror, but this time we're only interested in the movies that left a mark on you as a kid. Did Coraline force you to hide under your bed, or were you more of a Secret of NIMH fan. As long as you watched the movies through your fingers, it counts. So strap in and get ready for a horrifying new episode. Just make sure you have a clean pair of underpants handy.

  • Episode 110: Top 5 Best Kevin Hart Movies
He's a grown little man, we're a big little podcast. So when Q and J dive into the Top 5 Kevin Hart Movies, it's a match made in heaven, just like Kevin Hart and Dwayne Johnson...or Kevin Hart and Tiffany Haddish...or Kevin Hart and The Rock...or Kevin Hart and Ice Cube...or Kevin Hart and Will Ferrell...or Kevin Hart and Dwayne "Jumanji Rock" Johnson. What starts off as a conversation about Night School ends up in some very interesting places.
We are so excited to be talking about Kevin Hart duo movies that we even pitch a full one that he and Mattie Breaux can star in together during our #MattieMoment. • Episode 108: Top 5 Best Shane Black Movies
Shane Black has been a part of our lives since the late 80s. Whatever he may be like in person (we don’t know, never met the guy), he was instrumental in shaping the tone of action movies in the 90s. Q and J try to get pumped for The Predator by going back through his filmography to once and for all decide what the Top 5 Shane Black Movies are. It’s a tough task because either way you go, you could potentially piss off Arnold Schwarzenegger or even Iron Man. And we definitely don’t want Riggs and Murtaugh coming after us.
When we aren’t auditioning for the Monster Squad, J and Q try to talk about anything BUT Shane Black and in doing so, find themselves smack dab in the middle of another #MattieMoment! It’s a dangerous world, just ask Hawkins, but we’re a quippy enough duo to survive a Shane Black movie...maybe.

  • Episode 107: Best Use Of Nature by Filmmakers
What does it mean when a filmmaker uses nature in the best ways to tell their story? Does it mean they only film in natural light? Or does it mean that they film animals in their natural habitats? Could it mean a whole lot more? Q and J explore the great outdoors and these questions in this week's episode that's all about the Top 5 Ways Filmmakers Used Nature in Movies. This episode will probably introduce you to a couple of films you aren't familiar with, but trust us, they're worth it.
When Q isn't coming back from a life lived like Henry David Thoreau, and J isn't getting spooked by wildlife, we dive into the different ways directors have figured out how to incorporate the natural world into their stories and wrap up the next, great installment of the #MattieMoment. It's almost too much for one episode to handle, but luckily we recorded the whole thing outside.

  • Episode 106: Best Use Of Technology in Movies
In an age where every movie seems to have "the most cutting-edge technology!!" and "the best cameras that have ever been made by humans!!!!," it's hard to narrow down which films actually used the technologies at their disposal and pushed the boundaries of how tech could be used to tell a story the best. Well, you're in luck! Because Q and J launch from a conversation about how movies portray computers and social media into a world-ending discussion of the Top 5 Movies that Used Technology the Best. If you don't want to be turned into an android, you'd better listen.
When they aren't being manipulated by machines, J and Q discuss their favorite styles that technological advances have allowed. Are you more of A Scanner Darkly or The Matrix fan? Do you prefer sci-fi or lo-fi? Whatever your flavor, we've got you covered. We also launch a brand new segment to stalk Mattie Lynn Breaux in our very first #MattieMoment. Trust us, you don't want to miss this one, because if you do, the computers may revolt against you.

  • Episode 104: The Best Blumhouse Movies (so far)
First, Jason Blum revolutionized the movie making markets when he figured out the Blumhouse model for producing and distributing films. Now, Q and J are revolutionizing the podcast market by dedicating an entire episode to the best Blumhouse films (so far) and narrowing down their impressive slate to the Top 5 films they've released in anticipation of BlacKkKlansman. Do you lean more towards Get Out or are you more of a Paranormal Activity fan? Did you actually like Happy Death Day, or do you prefer Whiplash? We'll find out.
Don't worry though, it's not all horror movie talk. We dive into other recent studios that have impressed us, like A24, Neon and even Annapurna, while gearing up to tell you all about Six Pixtures in the newest installment of the #JennaJabber. By the end of this episode, Jason Blum will be reaching out to start a picture deal with us, so you definitely want to listen and ride our coattails.

  • 103: Existential Detention and the Best Back-to-School Movies
You can feel back to school time in the air. The air turns cold, you start seeing a lot more J. C. Penny commercials than normal, and the back to school movies start airing all over television. The ones where people who shouldn’t be in school, are somehow back in school, or the ones where students are just about head back for the first day after the Summer break. You love those movies, Q and J love those movies, Judge Reinhold loves those movies (because he’s in a crazy number of them), so let’s use our remaining days of Summer to celebrate those movies.
    Kind of.
While strolling the halls of Back-to-School Movies High, J and Q get distracted and wind up in Existential Detention, diving into everything from Adam Sandler impressions to which Rodney Dangerfield movies were our favorites growing up. Everything gets on this episode’s class schedule, along with a very special #JennaJabber where we tell everyone about the new Six von Lowe Habidashiversity. You’ll just have to listen to make sure you get all the subject matter. It will definitely be on the test.

It's time, once and for all, to dive in and let you know what are the Top 5 TV-to-Movie Adaptations of All Time so you don't have to waste your hours on Charlie's Angels or The Last Airbender or The Dukes of Hazard or X-Files: I Want to Believe or.....you get it, there are a lot of shitty ones out there.
Let Q & J provide a map to the best movies based of TV shows for you, so you can head straight for Star Trek and Mission: Impossible country and avoid It's Pat and The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle and Wild Wild West and Alvin and the Chipmunks and....Jesus, the shit just keeps on coming. Don't worry, we aren't going to talk TV and not have a #JennaJabber, highlighting the wonderful Jenna von Oÿ! So settle in, grab your popcorn, and power up that remote, we're headed into very tested waters and trying to avoid the debris.
