  • Episode 98: Some of the Best (and Worst) Movies of 2018
Well, we made it. We're officially halfway through this year of our Lord, two thousand and eighteen (2018). J & Q celebrate this un-New Years how we always do: talking about the movies we liked (and disliked) so far this year and coming up with the new definitive opinion on your Top 5 Favorite Movies of 2018 (so far). But this time is special because our list party was crashed by Bastard God King Cory from 615 Film, to talk about a special movie screening we're hosting and admit to seeing an unhealthy number of movies so far this year.
Join Q as he tears apart Jurassic World and spoils the shit out of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom while J questions everything he thought he knew about little girls in dinosaur movies. Also, don't miss this week's announcement regarding Jason Marsden's world-famous chili recipe. Here's hoping the rest of 2018 has a few more good flicks left in it!

  • Episode 97: Incredibles 2 Thoughts and Other Pixar Talk
It's a week of epic returns, as J returns from the Malta haberdasheries and Incredibles 2 returns to theaters after a 14-year hiatus. We get overly excited about one of those (we'll let you guess which one), as J recounts his epic adventures from last week and Q catches him up on what's been happening in The Writer's Room. With the niceties out of the way, we dive into our thoughts on both Deadpool 2 and Incredibles 2, which launches into a discussion about Pixar and Disney that is sure to embarrass your Great Aunt Martha. Also, quit listening to our show with your Great Aunt Martha.
All your favorite segments are back, as Q and J talk about John Lasseter, which Pixar movies made us cry, and tell you a totally, 100% true fact you've never known about your favorite star of TV and film in an all-new #MarsdenMinute. Finally, we end with the definitive list of the Top 5 Pixar Movies. It's time to dust off your Randy Newman cassettes and launch a shoe-leaf into space, as High Five: The Podcast gets emotional!

  • Episode 96: An Introduction to Popeye (1980)
You know what they say, when the J's away, H and Q will watch classic cartoon based comedies from the 80s! That old saying rings true as this week J may or may not be dead, kidnapped, or off on a life-changing Malta based haberdashery outreach. Q grabs Show Friend H and introduces her to the 1980 Robin Williams classic Popeye. They talk spinach, what a man what a man what a mighty good man Popeye is, and whether a baby gets murdered or not.
When they aren't talking about how much they miss J and how horrendously written Olive Oyl is, they deep dive into discussion of diseases, what constitutes being an X-MAN, and psychic song prediction...like seriously, what's going on with that? Kick back with an all-new #MarsdenMinute pitching Jason Marsden's latest hair-based business endeavor. So grab your corncob pipe and strap in for an all-new episode that critics have called "People are still talking about Popeye?"

  • Episode 95: Heist Movies
    BURN AFTER READING
What you are about to listen to is Confidential and should only be heard with written approval from Mr. M. Our fearless leaders, Q "Snipper Dips" and J "Soderbergh Slut" are leading the team extracting the list of the Top 5 Heist Movies of all time from a guarded safe in the basement of Steven Seagal's Summer home in Berlin. Currently, your particular skill of animal noise impressions is the only missing piece to our group, and we would like to cordially invite you to join us as we pull off a Glim-Dropper with a New Jersey Twist (the hardest heist known to mankind).
In preparation, please listen to the attached audio file as our fearless (and super handsome) leaders explain the goal of our mission, as well as talk about what they've watched recently and discuss another team member, codename: Jason Marsden. Like, seriously, they are super good-looking. If you would accept our invitation, after listening to the whole file, leave a positive review on iTunes and then light your underwear on fire in your backyard as a signal of your acceptance.
    Sincerely,
Mr. None of Your Damn Business

  • Episode 94: Arrested Development
This is the podcast about the story of a wealthy family who lost everything, and the two podcast hosts who have no choice but to talk about them all together. It's an Arrested Development episode from two of the show's biggest fans, Q and J. There's no specific agenda, we just dive into the upcoming 5th season, the recent Tambor controversies, and our favorites bits and pieces from the seasons we already have to enjoy. We end this critic-loved episode by coming up with the definitive Top 5 Arrested Development Characters list so you'll know which characters should be your favorites.
When we aren't talking about Arrested Development, we recount our thoughts and opinions on Solo ("Here's some money, go see a Star War") and what we think of the recent Roseanne news ("She calls it a 'mayon-egg'"), among other things. You definitely don't want to miss this trick ("It's an Illusion, Michael..."), or you may wake up tomorrow with your whole family missing their right arms. And THAT'S why you always leave a note!

  • Episode 93: Solo (and Other Star Wars Talk)
A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away...it was a period of civil war and turmoil. Kathleen Kennedy had fired Chris Miller and Phil Lord from directing Solo, but the young rebels achieved their first victory against the evil Star Wars fatigue.
During casting, Donald Glover was announced as Lando Calrissian, and Woody Harrelson joined the cast, finally granting a new hope to (now) Ron Howard's Solo. While we'd been promised a space Western, Q and J dive into the production problems and our general uneasiness about a film we should be super thrilled to see.
Pursued by online trolls and sinister agents of the Empire, our heroes race through movies they watched, which Dreamworks films are actually good, and pause for a galaxy-famous Marsden Minute. Before the episode ends, J and Q must get to the definitive list of Top 5 Most Awesome Star Wars Locales and restore freedom to the galaxy...

  • Episode 92: Most Meta Movies (and Deadpool!)
Intro paragraph: this is where we'll make a quick, snarky comment that slightly relates to the topic of meta movies and probably try to work in a Deadpool reference [definitely work in a Deadpool reference, maybe two]. The next sentence lets the readers know that this episode is about the Top 5 Meta Movies of all time. The last sentence should probably make fun of Q, or something, and then end with an obscure movie reference or silly pun.
Final paragraph: this paragraph is where we fill in the blanks and let listeners know what we watched last week and whether Red Sparrow is worth their time. Somehow, this sentence will reference Charlie Kaufman and J and Q's vision boards. Finally, we'll need to mention Jason Marsden and the #MarsdenMinute in this episode, which announces some exciting news. The very last sentence should probably be like a fake quote about our podcast and meta movies or something slightly mean and arrogant (to show how cool we are).

  • Episode 90: TV Mini-Series
It's the event of the summer, that on-screen blockbuster you've been waiting for. All your favorite people are in it and you just can't wait for Thursday night so you can see the next installment of your favorite story adaptation. You guessed it, we're talking about TV Mini-Series this week! Wait....what did you think? That comic book-y thing? Nerd. Q and J share memories of those days of yore when the 4-or-6-part TV mini-series were an event to look forward to. They also talk about why John Larroquette is all of their memories like a Thought-Pirate.
All your favorites are getting discussed: watching Roots in school, getting scared out of our wits by Tim Curry in IT, being bored by history again with John Adams (there's not even any rap in that one!). Not only that, but the guys figure out the definitive Top 5 TV Mini-Series of All Time list, and don't worry, John Larroquette is definitely on there. So, grab your family, heat up the Bagel Bites too hot, and settle in. It's gonna be a TV event to remember!
