High Five: The Podcast

Wait it's not the ghost of Christmas "presents"!? It's Christmas "present"? Ohhhhhhhhhh... Well, let's be honest, 2020 was a bit of a weird year. Okay, okay, it was crap! Everyone was fighting with each other, no one could leave the house, everyone felt sick, and all we wanted to do was take a 12-month nap. So, pretty much, 2020 was exactly like our family holiday gatherings! The whole gang is gathering this week to talk about the year 2020, our Christmas stories of old, and finally ranking the Top 5 Christmas Gone Wrong Movies of all time!

From zombies and monsters invading towns to sociopaths and Griswolds, we're counting down all the movies that show just how wrong a Christmas can go. Where is Santa? Why is Krampus here? Who is singing?!?! Get yourself tied to a chair and don't eat after midnight, these are all the ways Christmas can go up in flames. So, come on out to the coast, we'll have a few laughs....and a Christmas podcast!

Ho, Ho, Ho! It's that time of year again, HighFiveMas, and that means the joy of holiday movies and awkward pop culture references! Our three Hos, J, Q, and Mia, are taking the hand of that creepy ghost kid and heading into the past to relive and rank our Top 5 Christmas Movies from Childhood!

You don't want to miss which movies made the biggest impacts on us as youngsters, and you definitely don't want to miss when we all travel back in time live on-air and mess with our pasts and futures!!! That doesn't happen, but we have edited that sad song from Muppets Christmas Carol back into the episode. Get those tissues (and wrapping paper) ready!

December is upon us and the happiest time of the year has officially begun: The transition of Donald Trump out of the White House! But seriously, the Yule Time and holiday season has dropped in full force, so whether you're celebrating Christmas, Kwanzaa, Chaunauka, Festivus, or anything else Mia, J and Q want to join you in feeling good by listing the Top 5 Feel-Good Movies of All Time!

These are the movies that you watch whenever you see them on TV. The movies you watch when you're upset and want to feel better. The movies you reference and everyone groans every time! Let's get this holiday season off on the right foot by making each other feel good all month long!

As Thanksgiving comes to a close and we peacefully transition into the happiest time of the year, Q, Mia, and J thought it would be appropriate to talk about a movie studio that always makes us feel joyous: Pixar. This year, Pixar is giving us a Christmas present in the form of Soul on Dec. 25, so we thought, what better time to survey the CGI landscape and see what kind of competition Soul has to live up to (pun intended)? That's right! There's no better way than making a list of the Top 5 Pixar Movies so far!

We dive deep into Riley's head and travel up, up, and away with an old man and a wilderness explorer. We head to space and to the land of the dead, all while being pretty super about it and getting in bed by bedtime. Can Soul live up to the Pixar movies of old? There's only one way to find out!

From the web-slinging streets of Marvel New York City, through dimensional portals to the streets of DC's Gotham, Central City, and Metropolis, the gang is breaking bad and spending time with the worst of the DC rogues galleries. Once we're through, we'll know which Top 5 DC Villains Need Their Own Movie! Along the way, Mia will make some enemies, J will experience a horrendous origin event, and Q will seek vengeance on those that wronged him (or something).

Did you ever think a movie about a living lump of clay could be interesting? What about an eco-drama about dangerous plants that isn't The Happening? Maybe you're more on the road for an alien hitman splatter adventure. Whatever your DC poison, we'll have sampled it by the end of this episode. Come! Drink!

Spider-Men, Spider-Women, doing whatever Spider-People can! The multiverses are colliding and Mia, J, and Q are donning their spandex and joining the spider-ranks, so team up with Spider-Gwen (Mia), Miles Morales (Q), and Spider-Ham (J) as they merge animation styles and movie tastes to talk about the Top 5 Spider-Man Movies of all time! The entire rogues' gallery is coming out to stop us, but listen, Bud, we've got radioactive blood and we're here to list!

Outside of spider-talk, the gang dives into comics in general and why Mia can't choose only one option for a list placement. There are totally not fake commercials, weird games, terrible impressions, and even more goodies on Patreon, so if you think you can escape our spidey-senses, you've got another thing coming!

Do you want to go on an adventure? Now that our High Five Fellowship has grown by one, it was time to embark on a quest into Middle Earth while Q, Mia and J explore The Shire to find their Top 5 Lord of the Rings Characters! It doesn't matter if you're a dwarf, an elf, a maiden, a warrior, or a Hobbit, there's something for every type in this week's episode.

Are you on team "Garfield's Halloween Adventure" or do you prefer "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown"? Did you know that "Are You Afraid of the Dark?" started as a Canadian Halloween special? We've got a lot of horrifying tidbits to regale you with this time around, all you have to do is agree with us.

Halloween is such a special time of year that many of the TV specials we all grew up with have become standard viewing for this time of year, it's just a shame we can't watch them year-round. This has been a controversial topic in the past, so don't wait to have your opinion heard. Let us know which Halloween specials scared you the most so we can all be scaredy-cats together!
