High Five: The Podcast

The “Spooktoberweentacular: RE-ANIMATED” series brings you the absolutely horrifying bests of High Five past. Re-live our favorite Halloween-themed episodes and prepare as we build to an earth-shattering reveal on October 30th, 2020. High Five: The Podcast will NEVER be the same…again. Also, we have a pretty awesome special guest so don’t miss out!

It's that scary time of year when ghosts, ghouls, and TV show Halloween episodes start to rise from their graves. And no, we're not referencing High Five's annual SpooktoberweenTacular, we're talking about when your favorite TV shows give us that amazing gift of a Halloween-themed episode to fill that insatiable sweet-tooth we all get in October. In this frightful new episode, J & Q delve into our favorite TV shows and rank which ones gave us the best treats and which ones gave us horrifying tricks. You might be surprised by which shows "make the cut" or maybe you guessed the killer in the first scene (hint: it's Shawn, it's always Shawn).

When we aren't seeking out mysterious murderers or slutty pumpkins, Q & J play probably the spookiest game in the history of the show and come up with alternate versions of your favorite jingles to make them more about Q. Things are about to get dark and scary, so you'd better listen to this before the monsters come knocking. Trust us, they're fans too.

Welcome High Fivers, to the macabre, to the spooky, to the candy-filled Spooktoberweentacular Halloween Special Special on High Five: The Podcast. No, we didn't repeat ourselves, we created a Halloween Special episode where we dive into one of our favorite Halloween specials. Known to some as Garfield in Disguise, and to many as Garfield's Halloween Adventure, but mainly known to us as "that Garfield cartoon with the really freaky pirate ghosts." Q, A, & J sit down after watching Garfield and Odie run afoul of those nautical nightmares to discuss the nostalgia factor in cartoons like this and which parts actually scared us as kids and adults. You've already had your Halloween Treat, so it's time for a little Trick. Pillage Jon's attic and find a great costume, because it's time for some candy-candy-candy-candy-candy. Happy Spooktoberweentacular!

Exclusively on our PATREON: "OTHER STUFF TOO" is a monthly series where you can join Q and J discuss current movie news, upcoming trailers, and chat about what we’ve watched this month and what we demand that you watch. This is the hangout session you always wanted to be a part of…and now you can!

This week, Q and J find time to talk about the important things in life. We're diving into the DCEU deep end and discussing its chances of survival, we also share our thoughts on the multiverse theory while revealing what we're watching on Pluto TV, and end with some recommendations of what to watch to improve your life. Don't miss it!

It was only a matter of time before this podcast's fame caught up to the hosts. Q and J and both found themselves in scandalous affairs in 2020, having babies with people that weren't each other!! To celebrate our fame-based depravity, J and Q dive into the Top 5 Hollywood Behind-the-Scenes Scandals that defined not only the movies they surrounded but also the careers of the stars involved.

Do you think Bette and Joan are the creams of the crop? You might be surprised at what we're able to dredge up. Tabloid fever dreams. Technical malfunctions. Losses of life. This episode will draw all the headlines, we're going to make sure of it! Hey, Ryan Murphy, here's your next season of Feud all ready for you.

We've all known people who seemed like their tempers could decimate cities, but it's so much more impactful when there's an actual giant creature doing the dirty work. We're tired of thinking about parasites and viruses, so instead, Q and J are thinking of the biggest monsters they can this week. Whether you're spending time on Skull Island, irradiating iguanas off the coast of Japan, or manifesting creatures from your mind, we leave no giant stone unturned while we put together the Top 5 Giant Movie Monsters of All Time list!

Not even Matthew Broderick could stop us from allowing our favorite sponsors on the episode. He even stuck around until we started talking about playing "Fuck, Marry, Kill", but with monsters. We play it anyway. Matthew Broderick is such a loser. Whatever, we digress. Listen to our episode about giant movie monsters!

In the year of our Lord 2020, heroes from different paths were brought together under the same banner for a higher, greater purpose. We're of course talking about J & Q rounding up a who's who of the Project-Nerd expert stable for a Nerd Roundtable discussion about all the releases from DC FANDOME. What did you think we were talking about? The Snyder Cut?

If you thought we were, then you were right! But it's so much more. Since there was so much news, it was too much for just two hosts, so we recruited Project-Nerdites Eli (from The Game Pitch and Top 4 & More), Mia (@TheEveryModel), and Tyler (from The Nerdcast) for a veritable Full Five Roundtable! We're talking James Gunn's The Suicide Squad. Gotham Knights, Wonder Woman 84, The Snyder Cut, and of course The Batman.

Trust us, you don't want to miss this episode!

Everyone wants to be the hero, but let's be honest, the villains get to have more fun and be more flamboyant. With the world in a toilet year, we decided to celebrate some evildoers by creating the Top 5 On Screen Comic Villains List! Whether you prefer Heath Ledger or Jack Nicholson, Michelle Pfieffer or Halle Berry, Gene Hackman or Jesse Eisenberg or Kevin Spacey, there's something in this episode for everyone.

Don't worry, we take a break from all the villain talk to hear from some devilishly good, totally real sponsors, and play a wickedly fun game. This whole episode is devoted to the wrong side of the tracks. Harley Quinn may have been emancipated, but the High Five guys are about to break bad!

You can't read the news anymore without reading about federal agents storming into cities, arresting people before they've committed crimes, enforcing nightly curfews, and pretty much re-enacting the scariest parts of Minority Report and Brazil. So, that got us thinking about movies like Minority Report and Brazil, and we decided to do what we do best: talk about movies instead! This week we're creating the Top 5 Police State Movies list, and if you don't like it, we're sending a black van after you.

What is a Police State movie, you ask? That's a great question, one asked by Q in the episode. He had to listen to the show for his answer, and so will you, citizen! Just like J and Q, our sponsors this week are down for some ultraviolence, and we're cataloging celebrity arrests, all while bunkering down for Purge night. Join us. You don't really have a choice.

This is a movie podcast. Steven Spielberg is like a god in the movie industry. It's about time we dedicated an entire episode to the man, the legend, the 'Berg. From E. T. to Catch Me If You Can, back to Jurassic Park and Jaws, everyone has their favorite movies from the Master, but which ones ended up on our lists?

This episode has everything: Steven Spielberg trivia, totally real commercials, movie talk, dinosaurs, Tom Hanks, and more! Hang out with Q and J while they talk about some of their favorite movies of all time and which ones of Mr. Spielberg's recent oeuvre have missed the mark.

We're not crying, you're crying! Okay, we're all crying, but it's understandable because these sitcom moments get super dark. These are supposed to be situational comedies, but instead, they gave us fodder for our Top 5 Darkest TV Sitcom Moments list! Whether it's teaching us others can contain racists inside themselves or that the bad guy in this episode may just be the character you identify with, Q and J talk more about how they were raised by TV.

This week's sponsors all try to make us cry and our games segment is appropriately sullen, but you may never recover from J's impressions or just what may be wrong with Rose. Which show had the balls to kill off every character in their finale and which show still gives Q nightmares? Join us this week on a very special episode.
