An introduction episode to what this podcast is about- the "unconventional Mother". Introducing me, the host. Sometimes in a world that wants us to fit in, isn't it something to be proud of to stand out? To me, laughter is the best medicine. So, I do like to talk a little shit. NOT because I am interested in putting anyone down, but sometimes when you are overwhelmed- it feels good to just laugh about. It is not the end of the world, and if I took everything SO seriously, I do not think I would be who I am today. In no way shape or form am I PROMOTING the consumption of cannabis. Nothing is ever "one size fits all", but this is a part of what helps me, and I think the stigma can be very silly. I do promote being safe, listening to your body, consuming whole foods, getting out in nature, movement/activity, drinking your water, using responsibly, and I promote BALANCE most of all. The ever-elusive balance! No substance is going to magically repair anyone, nor will over glorifying its effects. However, I want to live in MY truth. Part of that being that I am indeed a "canna mom", and for one reason or another, this truly has helped in some aspects of my life. As I am sure it has for others, and this does not automatically mean you are a bad parent. At the end of the day, we are all trying our best to navigate our own minds, as well as our own feelings. I also want to be clear that my main objective is for parents to show up every day as their authentic selves. I hope you can learn that no matter what life throws at you there is a way through it, and we are not the sum of the things we do. So we should not let anyone put us in some sort of box, let alone ourselves. Showing up every day is the most powerful thing I have done, so I hope we can all laugh a little together, while tackling some of the more difficult topics. I hope we can understand one another and be motivated to show up to ALL parts of our lives- even the hard parts. This parenting shit IS hard, and no one is living the same journey. What works for one, will not work for the other. I choose to intentionally parent and live my life how I see fit. But to also never impose my beliefs, nor put anyone down in the process. We can disagree, but still want everyone to "win". Wanting everyone to eat, even if it not at your table. That is what this is. A judgement free space, for parents/people to feel safe sharing the less than gracious moments, not just the highlight reel of everything. AGAIN, while laughing the entire way!
One of my best friends and I opening up about or experience as Mothers. Our paths are so aligned, but also so different. Doesn't every mom/person need a friend who just gets it? In a world of being constantly judged, everyone could use a friend like Bri. A non-judgmental friend who gives you the space to be you. We discuss sex, obviously our kids, and may or may not go off on some tangents. And of course, ALWAYS encouraging you to say, "FUCK ANYONES OPINION OF YOU!" If you feel like you do not have those friends- we are those friends. Sit down. Fucking hang with us. Mayb smoke a little. You CAN sit with us, just don't kill our vibe! We love you so much, and you are doing great Momma's- ENJOY!! And also remember to be unapologetically yourself this week- no matter who you are. Do not water yourself down for anyone. ***DISCLAIMER: I AM STILL LEARNING. LOL. My editing skills may not be on point, but my annoying laugh can possibly be redeeming??***
Talking about boundaries in the best way possible- my way. Reminding EVERY. SINGLE. PERSON. that it is ok to say "FUCK YOU" to everyone who doubts you. My views are not for the "faint of heart" if you will. Never interested in appealing to sugar coated podcasts. If you are going to be a Mom, are a Mom, or just a damn human- learn to establish those boundaries BABY!!!! And sometimes realizing it takes a little flipping of the bird to do. Hi unconventional parents/Moms. I am back again- and just as unapologetic as ever. Dig deep and find that inner BAD BITCH. Spicy Bitch. Sassy bitch. Love you.
