    The year is 2024 and it's time to take a look to the ice. After AJ and Carl discuss their New Year's and a disappointing win for Carl, they dive into the state hockey rankings.

    There are four teams represented in both the large and small school rankings for Section V. McQuaid leads the way in large schools (3:00), though Pittsford is right on their tail. The Panthers are fresh off a big win over Hilton, they listen in on Primetime 585's interview with their top performers (6:30-7:15).

    In the small school rankings, Schroeder and Batavia Notre Dame have emerged from the pack as some of the top teams in the state. AJ and Carl highlight some of their top wins and performers of the season (11:00).

    Finally, Roundball Roundup is back and there are a handful of great matchups on Friday's slate. They highlight Victor/Irondequoit and East/Franklin (18:45).

  • State basketball rankings reactions; games to watch on the ice

    The early boys and girls basketball state rankings are out and they are littered with teams from Section V. After talking about their Christmas Day experiences, Carl Jones and AJ Feldman break down the state rankings.

    On the boys side, the Athena boys team gets rewarded for their impressive start, but several other teams are ranked in all six classifications. For the girls, Class AA has six teams ranked including four in the top 10 (3:00).

    The duo turn their attention from the hardwood to the ice for their games to watch. We highlight Brighton/HFL vs. Portside and Hilton vs. Pittsford for the key matchups (27:05).

  • News 8 Primetime 585 Elite Awards

    AJ and Carl are taking a holiday breather this week, so we bring you the News 8 Primetime 585 Elite Awards for this week's episode.

    News 8 Sports Director Thad Brown and Karen Iglesia from Primetime 585 hand out awards for the top athletes in each fall sport in Section V.

    There were plenty of worthy winners thanks to a handful of state championships brought back to Rochester this season. Also featured in the show is our Citizen of the Season award and a spotlight on Unified Sports.

  • Girls hockey in Section V, new basketball classifications, early impressions

    After a brief unexpected hiatus, Carl and AJ are back to talk all things winter sports.

    History was made on Wednesday as the first-ever girls hockey game was played in Section V. They talk about the trailblazing Webster Lakers and what it means for hockey in the area (1:50).

    With Class AAA here for boys and girls basketball, some decisions had to be made on where teams were placed. They discuss what the playoff landscape will look like come February, focusing on who got placed in the largest class and who stayed at Class AA (6:30).

    Finally, a few teams are already catching our attention early in the basketball season. AJ dives into Aquinas boys basketball while Carl shines a spotlight on the Victor girls (16:00).

    The fall sports season is in the books and a handful of teams emerged as state champions.

    After a busy week of football action, all of the sectional champions have been crowned. AJ Feldman and Carl Jones recap all of the title games and preview this weekend's regional matchups.

    Next, Francis Boeck of WNY Athletics joins the program to preview this weekend's Far West Regional Matchups.     While our small school rankings remain the same, there's a new top dog in the large school rankings. We talk about UPrep's season and how the rest of the top ten got altered by a big Aquinas win (12:45).

  • Statement wins shake up football rankings, tight field hockey standings

    There were a plethora of great, exciting games in Section V Football last week which has shaken up our High School Huddle local football rankings.

    First, Carl recalls the amazing catch made by Pal-Mac's

    Keagan Hoesterey (1:31).

    Then, Carl and AJ dive into our rankings. McQuaid took down Hilton, but the Cadets don't fall far in our rankings. Churchville-Chili proved they belong and Brighton makes a claim for a ranking as well. The small school rankings haven't changed much, but Avon joins the list after a big win (4:05).

    We turn our attention off of the football field to highlight big weeks by Aquinas boys soccer and Sutherland field hockey as our standout teams of the week (18:35).

    Finally, we have our eyes on Hilton/Aquinas and Schroeder/Irondequoit to highlight the football schedule this week (23:15).
