Ten weeks of thrilling football action have led to a great weekend of championship games. AJ and Carl have you covered with previews of each championship game. Finally, we recap and preview all that's been going on in volleyball and soccer with four squads making it to the state semifinals in both boys and girls soccer (28:00-35:45).
We're knee-deep into the Section V postseason with some sports handing out bricks this past week while others will be soon to follow. After discussing Syracuse's tough home loss to Notre Dame, AJ and Carl dive into their latest high school football rankings (0:00-18:45). The duo then recaps an eventful sectional championship weekend in both boys and girls soccer (18:45-26:30). Also, the field hockey sectional finals witnessed a team climb the mountaintop for the first time since 2012 (26:30-28:10). The pair wrap up the show by discussing the brackets in girls and boys volleyball to this point (28:10-32:00).
It's time to start handing out some bricks as each sport in Section V has reached the postseason. We turn our attention to soccer as we recap what's been going on in sectionals (20:15-25:45). Volleyball playoffs are finally underway, we preview some of the top teams and potential sleepers (25:45-32:15) We wrap up the show by highlighting what's been going on in field hockey (32:15-33:45) as well as two of the top football quarterfinal matchups we've got our eyes on this week (33:45-36:00)
We're getting into crunch time as the leaves are changing color and the stakes are getting higher. After recapping big wins by the Orange and the Bills, AJ and Carl dive into our local football rankings which has a new team at number two in our large school rankings (0:00-11:35) and a solidified top-two in our small school rankings (11:35-17:30). While there's one week left in the football regular season, sectionals are here for soccer. We break down the fields looking at some favorites and sleepers to watch in boys soccer (17:30-24:20) and girls soccer (24:20-31:00). Finally, two showdowns are worth keeping a special eye on in the final week of the football regular season (31:00-34:45).
Week 6 of the high school football season is in the books. The large school rankings didn't change much, but AJ got the chance to visit the Schroeder Warriors and talks about what he learned (0:00-9:35). We also highlight the Edison Tech football team for picking up their first win since 2019 and discuss a wild game in Churchville with some questionable fan chant decision making (9:35-15:40). There's a new squad atop the small school rankings as Batavia rises to #1 after Monroe took down Honeoye Falls-Lima. AJ breaks down how the Red Jackets pulled off the upset (15:40-23:10). Carl made it out to girls tennis sectionals and talks about the Brighton dynasty (23:10-26:15). Finally, after a quick recap of the soccer state rankings (26:15-30:00), we highlight two juicy matchups in Week 7 (30:00-35:20)
The spirit of Randy Moss was all around Section V last week as wide receivers stood out across the Rochester area (0:00-2:30). We unveil our latest local football rankings with Victor and Hilton rising through the rankings in the large school list (2:30-8:55) while Penn Yan/Dundee moves up in the small school rankings (8:55-13:55). Carl recently got out to Midlakes High School and chatted with the Screaming Eagles about their program's turnaround (13:55-18:15). Webster soccer teams are getting it done with defense, with the Schroeder girls and the Thomas boys both earning statement wins recently (18:15-23:45). Finally, there are some top football and boys soccer matchups we've got our eyes on coming up (23:45-27:55).
We're halfway through the Section V football season and it's time to come out with some rankings. Before we get to that, we chat about Syracuse and "UB" Football and the hilarity that ensued on Saturday's Football Frenzy (0:00-4:00). Then, AJ and Carl have complied their first local football rankings highlighting our top performers of the season. We break down our large school list (4:00-20:50) with the top AA and A teams and our small school list with B and below (20:50-34:00). The first girls volleyball state rankings are out, with two Section V schools atop AA (34:00-38:30). And finally we preview our games of the week (38:30-42:15)
Fall is officially here and the fall sports season is starting to get really interesting. Carl Jones and AJ Feldman break it down in the latest edition of the High School Huddle. Week 3 of the Section V football schedule brought interesting results, some unexpected blowouts, and a little bit of history. They recap everything that happened including nice performances by UPrep, Victor, Schroeder, Penfield, and much more (10:45). The first state rankings are out for a few more sports, we highlight the top teams in football (10:45-18:20) and girls soccer (18:20-22:35). Finally, the Class A picture is going to be a lot clearer after this week with a few big games on tap (22:35-29:10).
Another week of the high school sports season brought us some standout performances and some statement blowout wins. AJ and Carl recap Week 2 of the football season highlighting wins by UPrep, HF-L, Pal-Mac, and Rush-Henrietta (0:00-14:05). The first NYSSWA state rankings of the year are out, we break down the boys soccer polls with a handful of Section V teams near the top (14:05-18:00). Our travels brought us to see wins from Churchville-Chili girls soccer and Penfield girls volleyball. C-C previously snapped Spencerport's 40-game Section V unbeaten streak and Penfield looks primed to go on a deep run after falling to last year's state champs from Victor (18:00-23:00) Finally, we highlight our games to watch with Pittsford/Victor and Eastridge/Irondequoit taking center stage (23:00-26:05).
We could go an entire season without as crazy of a Football Frenzy as we saw in Week One. AJ Feldman and Carl Jones break it all down in this week's episode. First, we highlight the traffic woes at Aquinas as well as a changing of the guard in girls volleyball (0:00-6:05). Big wins by McQuaid and Rush-Henrietta earn them our Team of the Week status (6:05-15:20). We highlight Monroe and Vertus as teams that caught our attention in Week 1 (15:20-21:00) and talk about the HF-L/Wayen and McQuaid/UPrep matchups on the horizon (21:00-25:15).
