The Godfather is back for our final Babysitting Monday of the summer! Joey Lewandowski (CruiseClub) returns to tell us all about why he loves The Babysitter (2017). This Netflix film staring Samara Weaving is a pretty looking, action packed slasher about a 12 year old and the coolest babysitter in the neighborhood. When Cole finds out that his babysitter not only leads a satanic cult, but is also very capable of bloody and graphic murder; he finds himself running for his life...and fighting back. Joey and Brian discuss the look and feel of the movie, McG, Bella Thorne and everything else that makes this horror film unique, polarizing and great.
It was two years ago that guest Shawnee Mead first stoped by the Slumber Party...and it was all because of a kissing booth, The Kissing Booth; Netflix's first original trending teen film! Shawnee is back again to discuss the sequel to the polarizing film as her and Brian check in with Elle (Joey King), Lee (Joel Courtney), Noah (Jacob Elodri) and new character Marco (Taylor Zakhar Perez)! Will Elle and Noah's relationship last with new temptations in the mix and with Noah away at Harvard and Elle prepping herself for her own college journey in her senior year of High School? Will Molly Ringwald be given more lines this time? What will Brian and Shawnee think of the 2 hours and 12 minute runtime for the film? Hop in your sleeping bag and find out!
It's always a good time when we're talking Lifetime on High School Slumber Party. That's because Joe Two (2Fast2Forever) is back in the sleeping bag and he's brought with him Babysitter's Black Book. Babysitting Monday's would not have been complete without a Lifetime film and Babysitter's Black Book does not disappoint when it comes to most of the classic tropes that make this genre of TV movies so addicting. The film is about a group of High Schoolers who take their babysitting business in a different direction and begin operating an escort service catered to local wealthy Dads. If that doesn't have you hooked, Brian and Joe's classic banter will be sure to serve all your desires.
Let's face it, the rich have always fed off the poor...but in 1989's Society, that concept it taken quite literally. Our most senior guest Mike Manzi returns alongside brand new guest Galen Howard to talk about this wacky, topical and underrated horror film. While Society is probably not for everyone, there is no doubt that its final sequence will leave you in shock! Trust me, you've never seen anything like it. Join us as Brian, Mike and Galen welcome you into Society. How do you like your tea?
"I'm right on top of that, Rose!" Baby sitting Monday is back but let's hope the Slumberers have a little better luck on their assignment than the babysitter in the film we're chatting about. Shh...Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead...and Kate Hudson is back to talk all about it. Not only is former babysitter Kate here for her favorite teen star of the 80s and 90s Keith Coogan, but she also shares her love for Christina Applegate, and drops knowledge on what it was like growing up in a big family. Kate also dishes on which member of the Babysitters Club she hates. Dishes are done, man.
Based on the only series of dolls to ever challenge the mighty Barbie, Bratz: The Movie was panned by critics when it first debuted in 2007 but could this high school film about a group of girls torn apart by cliques be more than meets the eye? Don't believe the hype (or lack their of) surrounding Bratz and let first time guest Austin Wolf-Sothern help you think outside the toy box and give your opinion a Bratz: The Movie makeover! Listen as Austin calls out another CageClub host on his own less than stellar review of the film and tells us why we should all love Bratz. Also, first time in the line; High School Movie News!
"Have you checked the children?" High School Slumber Party's Babysitting Monday series continues with the chilling and formative horror film, 1979's When a Stranger Calls. Mike Manzi hops back in the sleeping bag to discuss his history with babysitters, the films unique format, Carol Kane and what exactly makes this film so influential to future filmmakers. Next time a stranger calls, hope that the call isn't coming from inside the house...
Hop on the pegs of our Mongoose as Joey Lewandowski returns to chat about the 1989 BMX classic, Rad! This movie staring Bill Allen, Aunt Becky herself Lori Loughlin, Olympic hero Bart Conner and Talia Shire has been a hard to track down cult classic for years. Thanks to a brand new 4k and BluRay restoration from Vinegar Syndrome, Joey and Brian were able to break down all the jumps, flips and of course epic bike dancing the film has to offer. Joey and Brian also discuss the surprise involvement of Princess Diaries heartthrob, Director/Producer Robert Schwartzman in bringing this film produced by his parents (and directed by Hal Needham) to a brand new set of eyes. By the end of this episode you'll give anything to be ass sliding!
It's another Babysitting Monday on High School Slumber Party as the slumberers earn a couple bucks for college, a new car or for buying their crush a burger and shake at the drive-in! With Weekend with the Babysitter, they're really going to have to earn every penny as this 70's exploitation film is about a man who spends a weekend of sex, drugs and rock and roll with...you guessed it...his teenage babysitter. While Weekend with the Babysitter is not everyones' cup of tea, it sure does provide some levity for Brian and guest Alex Schroeder despite its very problematic premise.
Fridays are fun again on High School Slumber Party, especially if you're in the mood for Japanese cinema, hand to hand combat, survival and good old fashioned teenage clique infighting. First time guest but long time friend of the network Dan Colon hops in the sleeping bag to discuss the cult classic; Battle Royale. This film, which has been banned in some countries, took a while to get distributed outside its home of Japan. As such, a reputation of violence proceeded it. Sure it takes place in a dystopian future and sure it's about a bunch of schoolmates who are forced to battle to the death on an island rigged with weapons and explosives but at it's core, Battle Royale has a lot of heart and most importantly for this show, it has all high school tropes we know and love.
