October 11, 1973: A Silent, Pulsing UFO Encounter in Louisiana During the 1973 Wave

The episode of High Strangeness revisits the major 1973 UFO wave, focusing on a firsthand witness from southwestern Louisiana who, on October 11, 1973 around 8:00–8:15 p.m., went with a friend into rural darkness to look for reported activity. They observed a silent light moving west to east that stopped, turned from red to emerald green, descended at an angle, then pulsated red, green, and orange, shifted to brilliant yellow when they blinked car lights, briefly turned purple, appeared to drop something, hovered about 100 feet high and within roughly 50 yards, and vanished instantly. The next day a student independently described similar lights over town, and a local newspaper report described red/green lights and something dropping out around 8:15. The discussion connects the timing to the Pascagoula abduction, references Jacques Vallée, Hynek, Bob Lazar, the Coyne helicopter case, Malmstrom missile shutdown, Phoenix Lights, and argues the phenomenon’s complexity and likely non-linear travel.
