The World Cup is just around the corner and I'm excited to bring you a variety of different football conversations around the game's best-ever competition!
I've covered a lot of great footballers during my time in the United States. From Beckham and Zlatan to Henry & Pirlo...it has no doubt been a total thrill ride. However, there is one footballer who doesn't have the flashy last name yet is a total legend for club and country! Welcome to squad central, Maya Yoshida.
Maya loved playing for Southampton and is considered an icon at St.Mary's. He also played in Serie A for Sampdoria and Schalke 04 in Bundesliga. After conquering Europe, Maya moved to the United States signing for LA Galaxy. After only six-months at the club, Maya was made captain and with the help of German superstar, Marco Reus, lifted a trophy for the first time in his club career!
Our conversation focuses on the World Cup, having the weight of a nation on your shoulders, Maya's time working with Marco Reus and what it's like to make mistakes, recover, be a leader and win titles!
Hope you enjoy this football conversation.
