Highlander Rewatched

Season 3 is firing on all cylinders and this week’s rerun is no exception!

Original Podcast Air Date: January 4, 2018

When an immortal Nazi wakes up after forty plus years of drowning, compliments of Father Bernie (Sanders) and a group of French freedom fighters, Mac must prevent the ageless war criminal from exacting revenge on the old priest by karate fighting white-supremacists goons. The Rewatchers discuss Mac's surprisingly relaxed attitude toward neo-Nazis (seriously Mac, wreck this clown), wish a tearful/relieved (for her) farewell to Anne, and debate (yet again) how the he(ck) holy ground works.

When this episode premiered, Kenny was a pretty controversial character and still may be, which is why this week’s rerun is “The Lamb!”

When the villainous Kenny, an ancient immortal sociopath trapped in the body of a young boy, worms his way into Mac's home, the gang must uncover the little jerk's murderous past before he turns on Mac and Anne. The Rewatchers discuss how the opening shots blunt the episode's tension (like a brick to head), meet the least threatening nerd immortal since Michael Moore, and almost throttle each other to get their hands on a totally rad "skate."

Every hero’s weapon deserves a kick ass origin story and Highlander's Duncan MacLeod is no different! Enjoy this week’s ReRun!

In this beloved fan favorite, Duncan must wrestle with an age-old promise and his own honor when a young mortal woman cuckolds (and attempts to murder) her immortal husband and flees to Mac for assistance. In their inaugural Season 3 episode, the Rewatchers meditate on the nature of honor, discuss Mac's transformation from a barbarian to stoic warrior that knows how to bathe, and rejoice in the rekindled bromance with Charlie.

We have another classic Highlander ReRun for you this week!

When an experienced immortal with insane hair frames Richie for a series of murders, Richie plays right into his hands by running to Mac for protection. The Rewatchers try to figure out the immortal information network, the shelf life of Cognac, and the difference in power between old versus young immortals.

We have another of our favorite ReRuns to share with you this week! Get ready for that Double Dare Quickening!

Original Podcast Air Date: July 19, 2016

Richie bites off more than he can chew when he takes on Mako (Jonathan Banks of Breaking Bad fame), an immortal bounty hunter who will stop at nothing to bring in a beautiful fugitive that manipulates Richie for protection. The Rewatchers discuss Richie's unseemly attraction to desperate women, the moral implications of fighting an immortal law man, and the best shower scene since Psycho.

Our summer ReRun series continues with Season Two’s “Turnabout!”

Duncan must help his old pal(s) Michael Moore (the immortal doctor, not the filmmaker) track a serial killer who is literally back from the grave and seeking revenge. The Rewatchers enjoy a sweaty first meeting with gym owner Charlie DeSalvo, do a barrel roll through the industrial complex in Duncan's backyard, and pour one out for the noble fallen Watcher - Josh.

ReRun: 2-1 The Watchers by Highlander Rewatched

On last week’s rerun we were introduced to Duncan’s friend and mentor, Darius. This week we revisit the season 1 finale in which we say an all too early goodbye to actor Werner Stocker. His presence on Highlander would be felt for seasons to come.

In the season 1 finale, when a mysterious group of mortal nerds hunts down immortals, Pirate Duncan must team up with his old friend Fitz to track them down. The Rewatchers hear a who, discuss the moral implications of the prize, and discuss the impact of Darius on the world of Highlander. Introducing Highlander Rewatched ReRuns! We may be parched in the summer heat, but we can’t let those podcast feeds run dry! Until our brand-new season starts this Fall, we wanted to go back and feature some of our favorite episodes and there is no better episode to start with than Season One’s Band of Brothers. We hope you enjoy revisiting that episode and our podcast!

Duncan musters the power of hope and training montages to bring down a superior foe. The Rewatchers discuss the moral effect of a quickening, Mac's role in the Napoleonic War, and the unceremonious send off of Rando McFarland.

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT!

Hello fellow Rewatchers! We were really thrilled with the response to our Endgame podcast series and our interview with Russell Mulcahy. We are excited to bring you a new batch of episodes but need to take a breather first! After year of lock-down we all have have been eager to get back into the world. However, due to various summer plans and new post lockdown work schedules we didn’t want to release episodes on an irregular basis. Plus, we have a Rewatcher wedding in the works which, as I’m sure many know, is a huge undertaking. We can’t wait to bring you new shows after this short break! We hope everyone has a great summer with their family and friends!

Your Rewatchers,

Keith, Eamon, and Kyle
