Jesus sees the whole truth when he looks at us. All of it. Yet he loves us the same and made a way for us to be whole.

The Gathering is an important annual milestone for The Highway Community. Today we look back on the ministry year we have completed, and look ahead to how we see God moving among us, as enter into the coming year.

As we continue in our summer series, “Eyes to See,” we reflect on the tendency many of us have in seeing our world with scarcity as opposed to seeing it with abundance. Jesus’ journey helps us to see with perspective, which allows us to recognize that there is abundance. This week we will be focusing on the perspective of Jesus in the feeding of the 4,000.

Jesus sees and enters into the grief of a beloved friend, even as he grieves, himself. As we see, empathize with, and share in heartache with the heartbroken, we extend a precious gift. Join us in a time of lament as we lift grief and sorrow to the God who weeps with us and for us.

In the story of the woman caught in adultery, Jesus responds to a presented problem in a completely unexpected way. Join us as we examine what that shows us about how Jesus sees hypocrisy—what he sees about how it works in our lives (the definition of hypocrisy), how to bring it into the light (unraveling the deceit of hypocrisy), and how to overcome it in our lives (the defeat of hypocrisy).

After four men dig through a roof to lower a paralyzed man to Jesus, Mark 2:5 says that Jesus “saw their faith”— which is very curious, because faith is something that seems unseeable. What is is that Jesus sees? What do these men show us about what it means to make faith visible?

While on his way to do something very important, Jesus stops, sees, and heals a sick woman. God's people are called to live aware and interruptible lives in order to see the unseen, with eyes like Jesus.

At Highway we value personal storytelling. We believe that rehearsing the stories that God has written, and is continuing to write in our lives, allows us to know ourselves, to be known by others, and to know God as we see his ongoing work of transformation in our lives. This summer, we will occasionally pause our teaching series to hear stories from our staff about how God called them into ministry, and how that came to serve at The Highway Community.
