“In a roundabout way, Boba Fett created Pearl Jam.”
― Chuck Klosterman
Music gives light and soul to the universe. It is a refuge or a blanket. It emotes what words cannot fully explain. It paints pictures that are not able to be expressed on a canvas. And songs are signposts of moments that are woven into the very fabric of our being.
In this special episode of "Highway to Well: Postcards from Paradise, Songs that Matter," Dondi Bueno and I dig into the dirt of our stories with the music that has clung to our lives since we first heard these songs. Dondi is an artist, a set designer, an outstanding carpenter, and a spark plug of inspiration. Together we'll explore the finer things in life like where to appropriately wear a flannel, how to meditate to Poison, why "My Way" is anchored to his heart, how good Willie Nelson sounds on Sunday mornings, and what happens when you meet Kris Kristofferson.
Enjoy the podcast.

"If you don’t look back and laugh at your own journey, then how can you have fun going forward?" John Wooley
John is the creator of the popular MakeWodsGreatAgain, memes for the sophisticated CrossFit athlete. MWGA was designed to bring some laughter and joy to the shared suffering we all endure in fitness.
John has ushered in a sense of humor, taste for satire, and creativity to the CrossFit community. He's an advocate for the value CrossFit can play in everyone's health and wellness journey, the role it has in building social connections, and the true opportunities it provides for us to laugh at ourselves.
I highly recommend you follow his Instagram page @makewodsgreatagain, even if you're not a CrossFit athlete. There's something there for all of us that need levity on our health, fitness and wellness journey.

"Only those who risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go." - TS Eliot
Deep in our soul is a search for the peak experience; yearning for the lunatic fringe, where our Vision Quest is realized through the sweat and grind of our journey to a better self.
George Pfiefffer, is one of the great leaders in worksite health promotion, but he's also uncovering the value of play and joined me for a discussion about these very ideas.
In this episode of "Highway to Well," George and I take a journey into the reflections of how significant play, sports, training and peak experiences are to our health and well-being. George, influenced by coaches, fitness leaders, Zen Masters, his family and his own experiences weaves a thread of how HighPlay is a metaphor for the way you wish to play and the way you choose to live. In this learning journey, we talk about how we get from being a better play to a better version of ourselves.
Thank you again for listening, and please share this pod, it is a special one.

In this episode of "Highway to Well," Alex Rolfs, owner of CrossFit Stevens Point and Baseline Performance, and I chart out a path of how we discovered the joys of coaching, training and helping others. We also dig into how our own deeply personal trials and failures have lit our flames in supporting others on their journey to a better life. We'll talk about the value of connectedness and sharing our struggles with others, and how important it is to celebrate the little wins to make the big changes we all dream about.

Greg is changing our village. But he's also changing how we define and think of health and wellness. The good news is that changing our villages will also improve our opportunities to live a more satisfying life.
In this episode we begin with his less than spectacular view of John Cougar Mellencamp as we drive into the heart of how place-making, space, creative time and community-building all have a shared impact on our wellness.
