What an amazing Christmas season it has been! We have been enjoying time with family and I love giving gifts to those that I love! One common gift in the 15th century were nutcrackers! This episode explores that tradition. We talk about their origin of course and ponder their continuation in todays society. As always stay hip and humble!

We were graced once again with the lovely Ladonna Scott and decided to try one more interview before she had to leave us to go back to Oklahoma. In this episode we talked more about some fun memories and the impact she has had, not only on me, but everyone she has been around. She is truly a wonder and I am so proud to share these few memories with all of you.

Christmas!! It is almost here! It is certainly one of our favorite times of year! We understand that not everyone is getting to spend Christmas how they want this year and so we wanted to offer a little encouragement and a little history on some of the traditions that we hold so dear. We are of course talking about decorating the Christmas tree! Specifically we go into to history and cultural significance of ornaments. We had a lot of fun and talked a lot about where ornaments came from and some of the best collectible and vintage ornaments you can find. We hope yo uall enjoy, stay hip and humble!

The Pilgrims have a colorful history, but one that started, however briefly, with an episode of peace. In 1621 two races fo people shared a short lived peace over a three day feast. My first question of course is, what did they eat off of? Well mom and I go through the tale of woodworking and furniture in the first european colony that began the modern history of the US. We are excited to share it with you and for that we are certainly thankful, stay hip and humble!

We dove deep for this one and dredged up an intro to the history of the shipping industry. Sailors, collectors and historians alike have always been fascinated with the sea and all the ways that people have interacted with it over the ages. As we come upon Thanksgiving this season we wanted to talk about some of the technologies and tools that people have used to make this holiday possible. The Mayflower brought the pilgrims to the table and I'm sure that experience was humbling. We are grateful for your support and thankful for everything you give us. Stay hip and humble!

Chess is budding with popularity once again in the mainstream and so we thought it best to end our series on ancient gaming with the this beautiful sport. The history of chess is as beautiful and eloquent as it is shrouded with legend and mystery. We dive deep into this with an explanation of timelines and history for the expansion and domination of this wonderous game. Chess is inherently thought provoking and we spent considerable time deep in thought about the impact that the church had on this and other games throughout it's history. As always we just tried to keep it hip and humble.

Is it chance or luck? One might never know. Dice are yet another ambiguous and cultured piece of world history without any clear origin. In this episode we explore the space that the worlds first gaming device has occupied in time. We have fun of course and there is mention of a fun scandal in the historical community surrounding dice. All in all we hope you have fun listening, and of course, stay hip and humble!

This week we are just talking about everything going on with us. We have had a lot of really exciting things happen and we wanted to share all of our endeavors with you. Revisiting some past topics and bringing up possibilities of new ones is a welcome and refreshing change of pace.
