Hello guys, welcome back to another episode of the Hockey Talk with TG Podcast. In this episode, we dive deep into Sunday’s NHL action, highlighting the hottest streaks, standout performances, and all the biggest headlines you need to know.

We start with the Chicago Blackhawks, who crushed the Detroit Red Wings 5-1. Chicago moves to 8-5-3 on the season and ends their road trip 3-2-1, winning three straight games and climbing to 3rd in the Central Division. Connor Bedard led the charge with a goal and two assists, extending his point streak to eight games and his goal streak to three. Bedard now leads the NHL in points with 25 in 16 games, tying Patrick Kane as the fastest Blackhawk to reach 25 points in the past 35 years. Arvid Soderblom made a career-high 45 saves in the game as well.

Next, we turn to the Carolina Hurricanes, who held off the Toronto Maple Leafs with a 5-4 comeback win in Toronto. The Canes scored three unanswered goals to secure their fourth straight win, moving to 11-4-0 on the season. Logan Stankoven scored the game-winning goal with 7:47 left in the third period.

Then we cover the Anaheim Ducks, who defeated the Winnipeg Jets 4-1 to extend their winning streak to seven games — their longest in two years. Leo Carlsson scored twice and added two power play goals, extending his point streak to 10 games, while Beckett Sennecke notched his first career two-goal game in the win.

The Ottawa Senators also came away with a 4-2 win over the Utah Mammoth, extending their point streak to five games.

Other highlights from Sunday include LA Kings’ 3-2 win over Pittsburgh, Stars’ 2-1 victory over the Kraken, Wild’s 2-0 shutout of Calgary, and Avalanche’s 5-4 OT win over Vancouver, with Nathan MacKinnon scoring five points in the game.

  • Alex Ovechkin vs Sidney Crosby for the 99th Time | Predators’ Struggles + NHL News (Nov. 7, 2025)

Hello guys, welcome back to another episode of The Hockey Talk with TG Podcast! In this episode, I break down the 99th career matchup between two of the greatest players in NHL history — Alex Ovechkin and Sidney Crosby — as the Penguins took down the Capitals 5–3 on Thursday night.

Sidney Crosby scored twice on the power play, giving him 10 and 11 goals on the season and tying for the league lead. The Penguins captain continues to defy age — becoming just the third-fastest player 38 or older to reach 10 goals in a season, behind Gordie Howe and Alex Ovechkin himself. Crosby now has 127 points (48G, 79A) in matchups against Ovechkin, while Ovi added two assists after scoring his 900th career NHL goal just one night earlier. It was a classic showdown between two all-time legends in their 99th meeting overall.

Next, I talk about the Anaheim Ducks lighting it up again — this time in a wild 7–5 win over the Dallas Stars. Anaheim has now scored seven goals in back-to-back games, won five straight, and sits at 9-3-1 on the season.

Chris Kreider scored twice, Cutter Gauthier extended his point streak to eight games, and Ian Moore scored his first NHL goal. Leo Carlsson had a shorthanded marker, and Mason McTavish added an empty-netter as Anaheim’s young stars continue to roll. For Dallas, Wyatt Johnston and Mikko Rantanen both had three-point nights, but the Stars’ seven-game point streak came to an end.

Then I get into the Flyers’ 3–1 win over the Predators, as Nashville’s struggles continue to mount. The Preds have now lost three straight (0-2-1) and are 5-7-4 on the season. Ryan O’Reilly scored the lone goal for Nashville, while Dan Vladar improved to 5-0-1 in his career vs. the Preds with another strong outing.

I also discuss whether Andrew Brunette could be the first coach fired this season. Nashville’s offense has dried up, turnovers are killing momentum, and frustrations from veterans like Forsberg and O’Reilly are starting to surface. GM Barry Trotz says he’s staying patient, but this team is under real pressure to turn things around — and fast.

After that, we head to New Jersey, where Jesper Bratt scored the OT winner as the Devils edged the Canadiens 4–3. Bratt also added an assist, giving the Devils their 10th win and keeping them perfect at home (6–0–0). Timo Meier tied the game late with 1:07 remaining, and Jakub Dobes suffered his first loss of the season for Montreal after starting 6–0.

I also recap other games from Thursday’s busy NHL slate:
Bruins beat the Senators 3–2 in OT thanks to Pavel Zacha’s winner, Blues shut out the Sabres 3–0, and Hurricanes, Lightning, and Panthers all grabbed statement wins to stay hot in their respective divisions.

To wrap things up, I preview Hockey Hall of Fame Weekend (Nov. 8–10) in Toronto, honoring an incredible 2025 class: Zdeno Chara, Joe Thornton, Brianna Decker, Jennifer Botterill, Duncan Keith, Alexander Mogilny, Jack Parker, and Daniele Sauvageau.

Plus, we take a look ahead at Saturday’s Hockey Night in Canada matchups:
Bruins vs Maple Leafs, Utah Mammoth vs Canadiens, Avalanche vs Oilers, and Blue Jackets vs Canucks.

So sit back, relax, and enjoy the episode! 🎙️

We break down Ovi’s unforgettable moment, the emotional on-ice celebration, and the controversy that erupted when Blues goalie Jordan Binnington tried to pocket the milestone puck. Plus, we look at how this achievement cements Ovechkin’s status as the greatest goal scorer of all time and what it means for the Capitals moving forward.

Then, we shift to Vancouver, where Tyler Bertuzzi records his 4th career hat trick to lead the Chicago Blackhawks to a big 5–2 road win over the Canucks, snapping an 11-game losing streak against them dating back to 2022. In this episode, we’ve got a full slate of Tuesday night NHL action and one huge announcement from Dallas that’s shaking up the hockey world.

We start in New York, where Pyotr Kochetkov made his season debut and stopped all 25 shots he faced as the Carolina Hurricanes shut out the New York Rangers 3–0 at Madison Square Garden. I’ll break down how Kochetkov’s calm play in net and Carolina’s perfect penalty kill helped them come out with the win, and how Nikolaj Ehlers’ first goal as a Hurricane set the tone early.

Then we head to Montreal, where the Flyers edged out the Canadiens in a 5–4 shootout thriller. Hear how Philly blew a 3–0 lead, rallied late with Nikita Grebenkin’s first NHL goal, and finished the job thanks to Trevor Zegras’ shootout winner. I’ll also touch on Nick Suzuki’s 12-game point streak and what it says about Montreal’s consistency early in the season.

Next, we’re off to Minnesota, where the Wild pulled out a wild 3–2 overtime win over the Predators — literally. Marcus Johansson’s OT goal sparked controversy after Nashville’s goalie dislodged the net, but the call stood. • Jonathan Toews, Jets Beat Blackhawks + Cooley & Necas Sign Extensions | NHL News Halloween Edition

Hello guys! Welcome back to another episode of The Hockey Talk with TG Podcast.

In this episode, I dive into a huge night around the NHL — highlighted by Jonathan Toews leading the Winnipeg Jets to a 6-3 win over his former team, the Chicago Blackhawks. It was an emotional and headline-making moment as Toews faced Chicago for the first time since leaving the team he captained for 15 seasons. He registered an assist in the victory as the Jets moved to 8-3-0 on the season.

I break down the Jets’ strong offensive showing led by Gabriel Vilardi, Kyle Connor, and Mark Scheifele, plus goaltending highlights from Connor Hellebuyck. On the other side, Teuvo Teräväinen, Alex Vlasic, and Andre Burakovsky scored for Chicago, but it wasn’t enough to stop Winnipeg’s momentum. And mark your calendars — January 19, 2026 will be a special one when Toews returns to the United Center to play in Chicago for the first time since 2023.

We also cover two massive contract extensions around the league. Logan Cooley signs an 8-year, $80M deal with the Utah Mammoth, keeping one of the NHL’s brightest young stars locked in long-term. I discuss what this move means for Utah’s future, their young core of Cooley, Dylan Guenther, JJ Peterka, and Mikhail Sergachev, and how the team is establishing a real foundation for success.

Meanwhile, Martin Nečas inks an 8-year, $92M extension with the Colorado Avalanche. I break down what his chemistry on the top line with Nathan MacKinnon and Artturi Lehkonen means for Colorado’s depth and how the Avs are re-loading for another Stanley Cup push.

We’ll also recap Thursday’s NHL action — including Anthony Cirelli’s OT winner for Tampa Bay over Dallas, Trevor Zegras’ three-point night with the Flyers, and a full slate of highlights from around the league as we head into the Halloween weekend.

We’re covering everything from coast to coast in what was a statement Sunday across the league. We start in Tampa Bay, where Nikita Kucherov scored just 32 seconds into overtime to lift the Lightning to a 2–1 win over the Vegas Golden Knights. Jake Allen earned his fifth straight win in goal, and even with injuries on defense, the Devils proved they can adapt and dominate.Out west, the San Jose Sharks grabbed their second 6-5 overtime victory during their 4-game road trip over the Minnesota Wild. Sharks forward phenom Macklin Celebrini scored the game-winner and posted a three-point night, extending his point streak to four games.
