East Carolina's baseball team had a 2-2 week on the diamond, losing the series to Coastal Carolina. Ethan Norby struck out 19 in the Friday win, a 7-0 triumph, before Coastal responded with a 9-1 victory on Saturday, and a 4-3 win on Sunday in 10 innings. After a long offseason full of changes for sixth-year head coach Mike Houston, the ECU football season is set to open a new campaign this Saturday, Aug. 31, against Norfolk State inside Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium. The Pirates are coming off a 2-10 season after consecutive bowl appearances, but are optimistic they can turn things around with much of last year's defense back, and a new-look offense.
