What do we do when fear feels like it is overwhelming our lives? There is danger in getting sucked into the now and losing sight of the bright hope that is our future. Pastor Lawrence teaches us that Hezekiah spent his life connecting people to God and teaching them how to respond when crisis came.
Hezekiah was a leader that pulled many together. He brought hope, truth, and spoke courage into people. He was an example of facing fear with courage. It's easy to run for our lives when things get difficult. Hezekiah shows us that what’s most important is to stay and hold the line for others-the line of hope. Fear can overtake us and we all need to glean courage from those wiser than us during times of crisis.
Hezekiah reminds of us the power of having Christ on our side during uncertainties. In 2 Chronicles 32:7-9 Hezekiah says, "Be strong and courageous; do not be afraid nor dismayed.” The people were strengthened by the words of Hezekiah king of Judah. He cast fresh vision of who God was for them. God used Hezekiah's courage to bring him to greatness. It serves as an important reminder that our courage isn’t just for us. Our courage has the potential to create massive waves of hope for everyone around us.
“We aren’t courageous just so we can overcome things. We are courageous so that we can elevate other people.”
