Did you know that mankind once had a kingdom? Discover how it was that we originally lost our ability to rule that kingdom when an ancient enemy stole it. And discover how it is that we continue to surrender that kingdom in our daily lives. Don't worry, God's got a plan, and we are a part of that plan. 

**Original Purpose of Mankind**

- Humans were uniquely created in God's image to rule over Earth and reflect His character through their actions
- As God's "icons," humans were meant to fill the Earth with representations of God's glory and character

**The Fall and Satan's Role**

- Satan, driven by insanity from his own fall, redirected his hatred for God toward mankind
- Though insane regarding his position before God, Satan remains intelligent and cunning in his attacks on humanity

**Loss of Human Kingdom**

- Through sin, mankind both surrendered and lost their capacity to rule as God intended
- Satan now rules by manipulating humanity's fallen nature, creating an illusion of freedom while actually enslaving people to sin

**Current Reality**

- Every act of sin is effectively choosing Satan's rule over God's kingship
- Unlike Satan who gives harmful desires immediately, God gives or withholds based on what is truly good for His people

**Understanding "Hallowed Be Thy Name"**

- "Hallowed be Thy Name" is the first and most important petition in the Lord's Prayer, emphasizing the importance of glorifying God above all else
- To "hallow" means to sanctify or set apart as sacred, treating God with the utmost respect, honor, loyalty, and obedience

**Ways to Hallow God's Name**

- Thomas Watson provides 16 methods to hallow God's name, including professing His name, trusting in Him, worshipping Him, and living a holy life
- A simpler approach is to delight in God, making Him greater in our own eyes first, which naturally leads to sharing that delight with others

**The Importance of Spiritual Self-Nourishment**

- Christians must learn to feed themselves spiritually, not relying solely on pastors or churches for spiritual nourishment

**The Dual Nature of the 1st Petition**

- "Hallowed be Thy Name" is both a petition for God to glorify His own name and an invitation for Him to use us in hallowing His name
- By praying this, we offer ourselves as instruments for God to use in making His name great throughout the world

Believers in Jesus are adopted into a new a family, His own. But what does it mean to have God as our Father, and what's the significance of God being "in Heaven"? Hint: It's not about His physical location.

The phrase 'Our Father, Who Art in Heaven' signifies the importance of recognizing God's authority and sovereignty as our Father. Jesus wants us to pray with the awareness of God's authority and our familial connection as brothers and sisters. God's fatherly goodness and sovereign rule over everything should inform and shape our prayers. By addressing God as 'Our Father, Who Art in Heaven', we acknowledge His authority and seek His will above our own. The Lord's Prayer is a guide to praying with the mindset of honoring God's authority and remembering our relationship as His children.

Even Jesus taught His disciples how not to pray before teaching them how to pray. In this episode, we study two things Jesus says we should avoid when praying. 

Hypocrites pretend to be someone they are not, especially in matters of religion, desiring admiration and praise. Spiritual hypocrites use prayer to seek attention and admiration from others rather than fostering a genuine relationship with God. Genuine prayer leads to a reward from God - the focused attention of God and the experience of His presence. Jesus warns against praying like Gentiles or pagans who use empty phrases and excessive words, encouraging sincere, simple, and genuine prayer to God. By praying sincerely in faith, without empty phrases and seeking attention from people, one can experience the true reward of a close relationship with God.
