  • Twelve Pairs of Empty Hands
In this installment of a verse-by-verse Adult Sunday School series through Luke, Charles Sebold takes up Luke 9:1-17 and picks up Luke's unanswered question from the storm on the lake: "Who then is this?" Having shown His authority over wind, demons, disease, and death, the Lord now lends that authority to twelve men and sends them out deliberately empty-handed, with no staff, bag, bread, money, or second tunic, so that when a fever breaks or a demon flees no village can mistake whose power it was. He makes each of them a beggar before He makes him a missionary, and the shaking of dust off the feet leaves a covenant town that refuses the kingdom outside it by its own refusal. Word reaches Herod Antipas, who asks the same question from a throne rather than from a sinking boat; Luke withholds the spectacle of John's beheading and keeps the camera on the question, because Herod wants a show and not an answer. Withdrawing across the border to Bethsaida, Jesus welcomes the crowd that ruins His rest and hands the twelve an impossible assignment: "You give them something to eat." In a wilderness, seated in fifties as Moses once seated Israel, God spreads a table; the Lord takes, blesses, breaks, and gives, the four verbs Luke will sound again at the Supper and at Emmaus; and twelve men who said "send them away" carry home twelve baskets of His provision. The lesson presses the slowness of disciples the Lord refuses to discard, and the widening sense of God's true scale that marks a maturing Christian life.

  • 26-09-20 Meet Kevin Schwartz
Meet Kevin Schwartz Faith Debate: Sunday, September 20th, 2026 (09/27/26 on 930 WFMD in Frederick, Maryland) For 5 straight shows The Faith Debate asked if AI's bringing the End Times? That makes for a total of 7 shows in '26 examining eschatological alarm about technology, wondering if it's from faithful Bible reading or an overreaction. This week shifts gears, but first here's some more about "Artificial Intelligence". Some point to The Book of Revelation's image of the beast, with economic control & widespread surveillance, as a framework thru which to interpret AI's trajectory. Others invoke Daniel ("many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall increase") as prophetic foreshadowing of the tech explosion. The panel distinguished between legitimate eschatological vigilance and date-setting sensationalism (the church has an embarrassing history of the latter). Postmillenial & Amillennial views frame the answers differently from Dispensational & Premillennial views. Those certain that AI is the mark-of-the-beast are undiscerning, but so too could be those saying AI is just a neutral tool. This episode is part 1 of a 4-part conversation on the subject of spiritual visions/apparitions. The Faith Debate can be found at wfmd.com, ChristianPodcastCommunity.org, & most podcast platforms - including SermonAudio & Odysee. Videos are found in many of these same places, plus on Rumble. Find links for all of these outlets at householdoffaithinchrist.com. Panel: Troy Skinner. Founder, Household of Faith in Christ Daniel Razvi. Pastor, Conquered By Love Elijah Dirksen. Student, Whitfield Theological Seminary Kevin Schwartz. Gentleman with dramatic stories of visions/visitations

  • Unstopping the Wells
This sermon examines the life of Isaac in Genesis 26 to illustrate that while God's covenant promises are passed down through generations, personal faith cannot be inherited. The preacher highlights the recurring pattern of divine blessing amidst conflict, noting that Isaac faced similar trials to Abraham, such as the lie about his wife and disputes over wells, yet remained faithful to God's specific instructions. The text uses the imagery of wells being stopped up by enemies as a metaphor for spiritual warfare, where each generation faces unique cultural obstacles that seek to block access to the living water of Jesus Christ. The message urges parents and the church to actively contend for the faith by teaching the old, old story, ensuring that the next generation has clear access to salvation rather than relying on their parents' belief. Ultimately, the sermon calls for a renewed commitment to share the gospel clearly and personally, recognizing that every individual must make their own decision to trust in Christ. Questions: Why does Isaac repeat so many of Abraham's mistakes in Genesis 26? Why did Isaac lie and say Rebekah was his sister? Why does Genesis 26 repeat so much of Abraham's story? Can children inherit their parents' faith? Does being raised in a Christian home make you a Christian? What does Genesis 26 teach about generational patterns? Are generational curses biblical? Why did God tell Isaac not to go down to Egypt during the famine? Did God give Isaac the same covenant He gave Abraham? Did God's promise to Abraham continue through Isaac? What did Isaac inherit from Abraham besides his possessions? Why did God bless Isaac even after Isaac lied?

  • Why God Called Zerubbabel His Signet Ring
This sermon explores the theological significance of the signet ring imagery in Haggai 2:20-23, contrasting God's judgment against King Jehoiachin with His promise to Zerubbabel. The central message asserts that God remains faithful to both His judgment and His covenant with David by maintaining the messianic line through Zerubbabel, who serves as a type of Christ. The exposition resolves the apparent conflict between the two genealogies of Jesus in Matthew and Luke, explaining how the virgin birth and legal adoption by Joseph allow Christ to fulfill the Davidic promise without inheriting the curse of Jehoiachin. Ultimately, the sermon presents Christ as the true signet ring on whom the Father has set His seal, assuring believers that they are eternally secured and chosen in Him.

  • Brought near
We do not contemplate the wonder of salvation as we ought. We do not count mercy the marvel that it really is. Paul drives it home: once we were far off, ignorant, twisted, condemned, alienated, hopeless. Now we are brought near, brought into a covenant, a family, a home, a church, a kingdom, a hope. How was this secured? By nothing less than the blood of Jesus Christ. It is in him as our Saviour and Mediator that we enter into all the privileges and promises.
