      • Real estate sales are happening. Consider: The Georgia Power building, two storefronts in the Cotton Block with two more up for auction Friday; two storefronts in the 200 block; and now a sale in the 300 block. Estimated sales total: $5 million plus.

                    • The Druck Report: Campaign season turns ugly early. Look for swipe at Sheriff Tim Burkhalter to backfire -- very loudly.

The slam on a Facebook page promoting the Second Amendment Rally aimed at Sheriff Tim Burkhalter had nothing to do with gun rights or when he switched to the Republican Party.

It was an attempt to smear the sheriff because of his support of another candidate in the crowded 14th Congressional District race -- Dr. John Cowan of Rome.

Those behind the troubling post have started a battle that can't win -- likely at the cost of the candidate(s) they support.
