Lou Henry Hoover grew up in Iowa, loved horse back riding, hunting, shooting, archery and adventure. She found plenty of that when she married Herbert.

Lou Henry Hoover spent many years of her life involved with the Girl Scout movement. 
She considered herself a Girl Scout before the movement ever started, because as a young girl, her father took her hunting, fishing and hiking in the mountains.

Herbert Hoover Presidential Library and Museum director Tom Schwartz details Hoover’s early efforts to use film to tell the stories of the American Relief Administration and the Commission for Relief in Belgium. The Hoovers were the first to have regular showings of films at the White House, beginning the tradition that continues to this day. The talk ends with clips in modern films that reference Hoover.
