Advertising has an interesting dynamic. The target audience is
often more willing to accept the word of a celebrity, even if that
person is getting paid for their endorsement. Normally, the fact that
they are compensated would make people suspicious. But the familiar face
or voice makes us feel like we can trust the message. Followers of
Jesus have a message to share as well. We aren't celebrities, but we can
do something equally powerful. We can testify to our personal
experience and passion. The sense of "trustworthiness" that a famous
spokesperson uses to sell products is a shallow reflection of the real
thing. If believers will live like a God saves, and that He is faithful
and good, we offer people who are lost a reason to trust what we are
sharing with them. David shares his own experience in a song, and we'll
take a look at how we can follow his example.
