We are are so glad you are listening here. If you have a hurt, habit, or hang-up, you are in good company because, well... we all do! We at Hope Church exist to help you become a passionate follower of Jesus. If you have never committed to following Him, we can help lead you to Him. Interestingly, today, we begin our Easter series called "The Journey" - the story of Jesus' journey on this earth from the manger to the cross to the resurrection.

Today, we finish our "Jesus and _____" series with one of the most basic but necessary disciplines in the life of a follower of Christ, that is prayer. The act of prayer, or talking to The Lord has been central to lovers of God for thousands of years. We are wired for and need communication with Him. The question though for many of us is, how? Good news, the disciples had the same query! Let us learn today from Jesus on how we should pray.

What are we here for? What are we doing? What is our purpose in life? What are my next steps? These are questions we all wrestle with. One thing many of us know is that to be lost, wandering, and without purpose is no fun at all. Part of THE Good News though, is that HE has the plan! It is comforting to know that all of the pressure regarding our decisions doesn't actually fall on us, but Him! Thank you for being with us today as we discuss the mission God has for us here on this earth.

Discouragement, insecurity, sadness, apathy, fear - all people wrestle with negative emotions from time to time, and some more than others. It seems it is simply part of being human. Because of this, we all need a little encouragement sometimes. In this week's text, we will look at an unlikely biblical character who needed some much positive attention and encouragement, and how Jesus himself provided this.

Who is Jesus? We've read about Him, studied His sayings, and talked about His life. But who is He... to you? Does the Person of Jesus have any real effect in your life, mentality, or behavior? For the next few weeks until the Easter season begins, we will simply talk about Jesus - comparing and contrasting his thoughts, parables, philosophies, and actions with ours. The hope is that we come to know Jesus in a deeply meaningful way that (suddenly or slowly) impacts our life.

This last week of the month at Hope Church means we slow down and place our focus on the Last Supper, the Lord's Supper that we call Communion. Jesus, in preparation for his imminent death in sacrifice for all humanity, took one more opportunity to be with disciples and share bread and wine with them to signify his upcoming sacrifice for us all.

This time of year, love is talked about quite a bit. With the commercial marketing of pinks, reds, hearts, roses, and stuffed animals, we can see that the focus on this holiday is obviously romantic love. We as Americans love love. We talk about it, sing about it, imagine it, and long for it. There's something in our soul that seems to need it. While Scripture acknowledges and celebrates this type of love (as it is from God), it highlights a different type altogether. This is what we will be discussing today.

Sacrifice is hard. Taking something of value in the here-and-now, and making an educated trade for something else potentially more valuable in the future is very much a risk. In Scripture, however, we come to understand that our lives are not our own, so then, giving what we "own" becomes much easier. For we realize that everything we have, all the way down to each cell in our body, belongs to Jesus. So when He wants our communication? We give it to Him. When he wants our finances? We give them to Him. And when He wants us to faithfully serve others? We'll do that too.

Recently in Scripture, we have uncovered what "worship" is for us - a right response toward God in spirit and action. When a soul encounters the one, true, and holy God through the Person of Jesus, a proper response would be surrender and submission to Him. Interestingly, this doesn't seem to come to us (and through us) naturally in our flesh. Over the next few weeks at Hope Church in Roxboro, we are discovering key areas where we show surrender to Him in a matter of faith.
