God fashioned the Hebrew people so that they would become one nation in order for them to bring to the world the Scriptures and to send into the world the Messiah. God made a covenant with his people which they violated but God remained faithful.

The public conversation speaks a great deal about equity and justice. As these words are being redefined we have to ask -How does the Bible define equity and justice.- This sermon defines biblical equity and what constitutes biblical justice.

The Jewish people are preserved so that they would respond to the Messiah and so that the same Messiah would also be savior of all peoples.

In recent years we have been barraged with the cry of social injustice in the media, education, politics and in the church. Amos 5 shows us the importance of justice and righteousness as worshippers of God. With the cry of social injustice getting louder, how are we to define justice- In this first sermon part, we learn that what constitutes biblical justice is of extreme importance if we are to truly extend justice to one another.

The 10 plague was God's judgment of sin as the nation was called to place the blood of a lamb on their doorposts so that the angel of the Lord would pass over the home of the faithful. The two criminals crucified along with Christ display two ways of suffering- One of anger and blame and one that acknowledges who God is and trusts in him. The last words of the thieves reveal their hearts. Christ's last words reveals his heart of love.

The plagues are God's answer to Pharaoh's question- Who is this God that I should listen to him- Through the 10 plagues, the Egyptians false deities are defeated, God's proves to be just and his grace is displayed to his people.

The 10 Plagues against Egypt was the loud voice of God saying, -You have heard my name. Now, you will experience God's presence.- Through these signs and wonders God rescues, judges sin, makes himself known and creates a community of worshippers.

Moses and Aaron are quickly disappointed when they approach Pharaoh and say, -Let my people go-- Disappointment only happens when we have hope. Exodus 5 gives us four essential points for managing disappointment in this life.
