Can you be close to the things of God without actually being close to God?
Pastor Mitch Botsford and Hannah Botsford teach at Horizon Church through Revelation 2:1–7, where Jesus commends the church in Ephesus for its work, perseverance, and discernment but tells them, “You have left your first love.”
Using their own marriage alongside Paul’s teaching in Ephesians, Mitch and Hannah explore the difference between proximity and intimacy. Marriage can become busy, productive, and outwardly healthy while slowly drifting from the relationship at its center. The same thing can happen spiritually.
The message looks at the purpose of Christian marriage, biblical submission, purity, spiritual drift, and the importance of helping one another grow toward Christ. Jesus’ answer to drift is simple: remember where you began, repent, return, and put Him back in first place.
