  • NBA's Jaxson Hayes Domestic Violence Incident
A new video has surfaced showing NBA player Jaxson Hayes shoving and spitting at his former girlfriend, Sofia Jamora, during an incident in 2021 in California. The video, published by TMZ, depicts Hayes dragging Jamora through a doorway, despite her pleas to stop. The argument continued in the driveway, where Hayes shoved and spat at Jamora. In the video, Jamora is heard saying, 'I'm not gonna let you hit me anymore. What do I look like? A punching bag?' This incident led to Hayes' arrest, resulting in a sentence of three years of probation, 450 hours of community service, and a year of weekly domestic violence classes. Although the NBA had previously investigated this incident and chose not to suspend Hayes, the league has now reopened the investigation following the release of the new video. Hayes was a first-round pick in 2019 for the New Orleans Pelicans and was signed to the Los Angeles Lakers in 2023 after spending four seasons with the Pelicans.

  • Ogden Hit-and-Run Incident
On November 1, 2024, a hit-and-run incident occurred in the parking lot of a car wash at 715 South Washington Boulevard in Ogden, Utah. Christian Palma Hernandez, a 21-year-old driver, was involved in the accident where he ran over a 63-year-old man, Stirling Kelso, who was on the ground cleaning the area. After the incident, Palma admitted to hitting the pedestrian and then drove his gray Lexus into a nearby car wash bay and washed the vehicle just feet from the victim. Palma told police he was scared and did not know what to do. He also provided false information to bystanders who questioned him about the incident. The victim, Stirling Kelso, died at the scene. Police identified Palma through another vehicle at the scene that had the name of a local business printed on it, which led them to discover that the Lexus was owned by the same business and was being used by several workers. It was also found that Palma did not have a valid driver’s license and provided a fake permanent resident ID to the police.

  • Gateway Church Removes Elders Over Abuse Allegations
Gateway Church has removed four of its elders following an internal investigation into sexual abuse allegations against the church's founder, Robert Morris. The investigation, conducted by the law firm Haynes Boone, revealed that two groups of elders had knowledge of the allegations but failed to take appropriate action. One group knew that the victim, Cindy Clemishire, was 12 years old when the abuse began, while the other group had enough information to warrant further inquiry but did not pursue it. Church elder Tra Willbanks announced the decision during a Saturday service at the church's Southlake campus, stating that both groups' actions were 'fundamentally wrong' and would 'not be tolerated' at Gateway Church. Willbanks praised Clemishire for coming forward and condemned Morris in strong terms. The church is also cooperating with a criminal investigation and has outlined changes to its bylaws and governance structure. Robert Morris had previously resigned as senior pastor after the allegations surfaced, which included his confession of 'inappropriate sexual behavior' with a 12-year-old girl in the 1980s. The allegations were first made public through a post on The Wartburg Watch blog and were later detailed in an interview with NBC News. The church's board of elders had faced criticism for their initial response and their handling of the situation over the years, with Clemishire and her attorney criticizing the church for not taking earlier action despite prior reports of the abuse

  • Girl Killed by Family Dog

A 10-year-old girl tragically lost her life after being attacked by her family's dog at their residence on Friday, November 1. Despite having a 'loving relationship' and a 'loving bond' with the pet, the dog's behavior was described as an 'out-of-character' attack. The incident occurred within the family's home, where the girl sustained severe injuries from the dog bite and unfortunately died at the scene. Emergency services received a call from ambulance crews at 4:15 PM, and authorities subsequently announced that the dog would be euthanized.

Investigators are conducting thorough inquiries into every aspect of the situation to understand the dog's behavior and why it might have attacked the girl. A bystander intervened to assist the family, and the Yorkshire Ambulance Service responded promptly. A relative managed to secure the dog inside a vehicle before emergency personnel arrived on the scene. The dog was taken into custody by officers and transported to secure kennels.

North Yorkshire Police expressed their condolences, stating that their thoughts are with the girl's family and friends during this difficult time. Officers are providing support to the family as investigations proceed, and they have asked the public to refrain from speculation regarding the incident and to respect the family's privacy. A post-mortem examination was scheduled for Sunday evening,
