Fresh off his annual New Year’s trip to South Carolina to attend the Grand American Coon Hunt, Steve takes the opportunity to unload some baggage he brought back from the competition events.

With a background in registry administration, Steve fully understands the challenges the registries face in maintaining enthusiasm for their events, often on a playing field that can appear to be anything but level at times. Games must have participants and Steve fears today’s climate may be discouraging more players than it encourages.

In this episode Steve confesses that the system designed by the game’s founders may not be working in today’s climate.  The old hunter challenges the powers that be to come up with solutions that put honor back in the game, that rewards the best hound rather than the best argument from the most talented lawyer on the cast. 

Listeners, depending on which camp they find themselves, purist or pugilist, will at least enjoy hearing the old man bump his blood pressure up a degree or two.  In this one, Steve has gone looking for ways to bring out our best when the worst seems so easy to do.
