Nephi made several allusions to his father's vision of the tree of life as he taught people to "feast" on the word of Christ. Contemporary prophets like Ezekiel likewise "ate" the word of the Lord as a symbolic gesture, and there appears to be temple and Sabbath day connotations in the symbolism.
