Food deserts are defined as areas lacking access to affordable fresh fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, and other healthy foods. Over the past few decades, such food deserts have become a significant concern in many urban areas across the United States. One prime example is the situation in Chicago, where several neighborhoods suffer from limited access to nutritious food options.
