1. Biblical community is rooted in our fellowship with God the Father and with His Son, Jesus Christ. 
2. Not everyone understands the importance of community. 
3. A focus on self, and what you get out of the church, is a barrier to finding biblical community. 
4. Pastors can't provide the fellowship each member needs. 
5. COVID-19 is a wake-up call to the church that community is more important than many people think. 
6. Technology is a valuable resource but is not a one-to-one replacement for face-to-face interaction. 
7. The church, by definition, is an assembled body. "Virtual church" can not be the norm. 
8. Video technology may become a permanent fixture in helping people interact online between their in-person gatherings. 

In this episode, Scott Wylie and Joseph Scarfone discuss launching a food pantry to meet the needs of the community in repose to the COVID-19 pandemic. 

Some of the key lessons:

1. Partner with an organization that has real, identifiable needs. 
2. Only gather items that are truly useful. 
3. Cast a vision to the congregation for serving the community, and communicate the details of the need.
4. Maintain social distancing in the collection and distribution of food. 
5. Distribute food to families based on family size. 
6. Look for gospel opportunities as you encounter people in need. 

In this episode, Scott Wylie shares 5 tips for conducting higher quality online meetings and classes. 

1. Have everything prepared and ready in advance so that you can welcome and greet your online guests as they arrive. 
2. Position your head near the top of the video frame so that you can communicate with body language and gestures, not just words. 
3. Raise up your computer so that the camera is at eye level.
4. Use an external mic.
5. Don't sit with a window or other light source behind you. The light should be in front of you, illuminating your face. 

In this episode of How Church Works, Scott Wylie describes the various communication strategies his church is deploying to stay in touch during the COVID-19 pandemic. 

1. Staff meetings are online or over the telephone.
2. Bible studies and other groups have moved online using zoom.
3. We will begin each weekday morning with corporate prayer, led by a pastor, over the internet at 9:00 AM.
4. Ministries are connecting with the people they serve and launching online times of teaching and encouragement.
5. The pastors are dividing up our list of households and will call each family that attends the church.
6. We're figuring out how to do our annual business meeting online.
