Derek Allen is a musician and audio engineer from the west suburbs of Chicago. Currently performing with Lower Automation and Formants, he has toured nationally and released music since 2009. As an engineer, Derek has worked with many artists including Angry Blackmen and Frail Body. 

Today we will have a conversation with Nature and Wildlife Photographer, Gretchen Shepherd, who specializes in creating art and photography that highlights The US National Parks system. She will give us an inside look, and advice, on how we can all explore nature at any level, and support its conservation.

Phil Machi is a cartoonist and filmmaker known for his long running book series "Retail Sunshine" which follows the adventures

of a group of sales people dealing with infuriating customers and unbearable management. In late 2020, Phil released the

documentary short film "Sparking Sunshine" which included the premiere of his first animated interpretation of "Retail Sunshine."

His podcast "Stay 'Tooned!" and livestream show "Stay 'Tooned! LIVE" takes a fun and informative look at the lives of

professionals in the animation industry. This behind-the-scenes series is currently spawning a feature documentary film

about Batman: The Animated Series.

Steven will discuss several topics surrounding artist authenticity including his ideas on authenticity versus commercialism. Christina Lundberg is a writing instructor/tutor/coach/mentor, poet, and essayist who lives in the Chicagoland suburbs. Her poems have appeared in the Naropa Summer Writing Program journal Guilty as Charged, the Naperville Writers Group publication Rivulets, and the journal dedicated to all things farmer with a literary and educational slant Farmer-ish. Recently, she co-authored an academic essay on emotional intelligence (EI) that is forthcoming this January 2021 in the writing center journal Praxis. She works as a writing instructor and coordinator for the Walden University Writing Center and teaches composition and creative writing courses at College of DuPage. Upon being awarded an M.F.A. in Creative Writing in 2007, Christina embarked on a writing and teaching career and never looked back. Writing, teaching, and supporting both students and educators to move the needle forward in their work truly serve as her guiding light. 

Christina started her business, My Page Break, because she saw a need for writing students and writing educators to be more supported. Christina believes that having a healthy writing practice increases quality of life, and she believes in providing a positive and uplifting psychologically safe environment where writers can be their most truest selves and create their most significant work.
