Hello lovelies,
We begin today’s chat catching up on what we both have been up to – Jas has moved back to Melbourne and Maggie has been on a fashion film set.
17-year-old internet star Jojo Siwa has proudly come out as queer. We reference this Buzzfeed article on how Gen Zs are changing the conversation around coming out which led to a tear-filled and vulnerable talk about our own journeys of coming out without labels.
Then we’re onto Zoella, the British Youtuber who was dropped from the GCSE Media Studies exam after reviewing sex toys on her website.
Jasmine recommends the 2019 film Just Mercy, available to watch on Netflix. Based on a true story, it follows Walter McMillan who, with the help of a recent law graduate, Bryan Stevenson, overturns his murder conviction.
Maggie recommends “Yes, Your Honest Mix-Up is Racially Biased” by Reena Gupta for Kill Your Darlings which unpacks why some names, places and people are afforded a level of care that others are not.
Our jingle, editing and production is by India Raine. You can email us at [email protected], find us on Instagram at @cultureclubpod, or on our personal accounts at @jasmineeskye and @yemagz.
Until next week,
Mags and Jas xx
