Well narrated. Starts well ... Rambling, disappointing ending. It felt like a waste of time, having listened to it.

"To the Lighthouse" è uno dei romanzi più famosi di Virginia Woolf, scritto nel 1927. Il romanzo è tutto incentrato sul flusso di pensieri dei protagonisti, in cui la percezione del mondo esterno e del mondo interno si confondono, e colori e paesaggi interiori e esteriori si mescolano in modo unico, e reso forse possibile dallatmosfera rarefatta dell'isola di Sky.

Il mondo femminile è analizzato, sezionato, sofferto e compatito visceralmente dall'autrice, che per la coppia principale del romanzo, e per il loro rapporto (i Ramsay) si è ispirata al padre e alla madre. A proposito del romanzo la Woolf scrive nei suoi diari:

"Fino a quarant'anni e oltre fui ossessionata dalla presenza di mia madre... Poi un giorno, mentre attraversavo Tavistock Square, pensai "Al faro": con grande, involontaria urgenza. Una cosa ne suscitava un'altra... Che cosa aveva mosso quell'effervescenza? Non ne ho idea. Ma scrissi il libro molto rapidamente, e quando l'ebbi scritto, l'ossessione cessò. Adesso non la sento più la voce di mia madre. Non la vedo. Probabilmente feci da sola quello che gli psicoanalisti fanno ai pazienti. Diedi espressione a qualche emozione antica e profonda."

Truly amazing!

Valentina Goldman's life is thrown into chaos after her late husband's unexpected departure in this immensely enjoyable novel. Diagnosis for her supposed depression arrives at her doorstep in Arizona in the form of her mother who has just the cure for Valentina's blues: a cruise around the Mediterranean. Except, Valentina doesn't want to go anywhere. The protagonist is still the same outspoken Valentina from Marisol Murano's previous novel which I also read and loved: "Valentina Goldman's Immaculate Confusion." This sequel is full of heart and wisdom about how to move on after life deals you an unexpected blow. As she cruises around the world with what little she managed to save of her late husband's ashes in an empty bottle of Advil, Valentina's self-awareness and understanding grow. Funny, touching, and hard to put down, Valentina Goldman Ships Out entertains, even as readers delve into deep themes at the novel's various ports of call.

The sequel is even funnier.

I read Marisol Murano's first book "Valentina Goldman's Immaculate Confusion," and

A good add for the summer reading list

Valentina Goldman Ships Out was an entertaining page turner, with an element of comedy that I was missing in my reading list. Over the course of her cruise adventure you see a heartbroken widow recapture her spicy Latina spirit. I read a few pages out loud to my boyfriend who died laughing, even without knowing the entire context of the story. A good add for the summer reading list!

Must Read!

I loved this book for so many reasons. Yes, it's a romp around the world. But it's also about what happens when you suffer an unexpected loss and go in search for answers. As a benefit, Valentina is a quirky character who makes you laugh (sometimes out loud). Great beach read!

Selfless Vow or Duplicitous by author Angeline M. Bishop is the most understanding book I ever I read , and I feel like we all could some how relate to this book in some type of way because of friendship and be carful what promise you make to other ( a life lesson ). I also shared this book to my friends and they all like it.
