Publisher's Summary:
A spellbinding second instalment in a trilogy of rare power and narrative scope that unlocks the dark heart of Spain, weaving past and present together to portray a country still scarred by civil war, still riven by fear and hatred, still plagued by secrets that refuse to die.
It's 1954. Comandante Guzmán has been posted deep in the Basque country to confront a man known only as 'El Lobo'. Guzmán was last here in the war, though he would rather forget that. But he hasn't been forgotten, and high in the mountains he must fight for his life against someone who has been searching for him for a very long time....
Madrid, 2010: On the eve of an election, the government commission Forensic Investigator Ana María Galindez to investigate the scandal of the 'Niños Robados' - the thousands of children stolen at birth during the years of the dictatorship. The politicians hope her findings will pacify public outrage at the thefts, but there are many who would prefer those secrets to remain hidden. And if that means silencing Galíndez, they will.

Who was your favorite character and why?
I like all of them , each one was brilliant
interesting and eye opening
Loved it. some times i had to go back just listen to some parts. Very well written.
The story keeps rolling
Would you listen to The Exile again? Why?
Most definitely, along with the first book in the series "The Sentinel". Both books warrant a second time listen, there were details gleaned that added to the experience.
What other book might you compare The Exile to, and why?
Although a completely different genre the love to hate main character Guzman is akin to Tyrion in Game of Thornes. Maybe Guzman will be a hero!
Which character as performed by Nigel Anthony was your favourite?
Once again, Leo Guzman, although the change of narrator from the first book took a little time to adjust to.
Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Mainly a general feeling of shock at the harshness of the Franco regime which lasted so long and impacted on so many lives.
Any additional comments?
Can't wait for the third in the series. I look forward to all three back to back.
a bit of a let down
Is there anything you would change about this book?
the narrator, not to have the continuity of the same voice in your head was a big let down for me.
Would you recommend The Exile to your friends? Why or why not?
no , purely for the difference of the narration
Would you be willing to try another one of Nigel Anthonys performances?
yes
Did The Exile inspire you to do anything?
not get the next instalment.
Any additional comments?
get a grip producers and have the books in the same voice , bad very bad organisation.
