Nick is a rock star worth meeting!!!
What a brilliant debut novel for author Jeanine Binder - I will definitely be reading more of her books.
Nick Marshall is a forty-five year old rock star, who has been in the business for thirty years. He is extremely successful and is currently looking for a new member for his band - a keyboard player.
Katelyn Thomas is a studio musician looking for something different to do.
Nick hires Kate and from there the sparks fly.
Out on Tour for six months the novel really starts moving. This is a wonderful story, showing how the relationship between Nick and Kate develops and grows.
Jeanine takes the reader on a ride through all emotions ! Discovery of the past, ex spouse's, death, tragedy, marriage and even a chance of forgiveness.
I am so glad I bought this book, the blurb was enough to sell it to me. If you're looking for something more mature than your average twenty year old rock star - this is the book for you.
Definitely a wonderful 5***** read.
Now on to Book Two - Prime Time.
the love of the art
"Real Time" is a realistic portrayal of the world of rock music; the touring, the ups and downs, the love of the art, and the effects different players have on a band and the music itself. With strong characters that draw you in, the novel is well-written and deeply romantic.
Love takes time, and so does finding balance in the world of Rock n' Roll. Nick, a middle aged rock star who had found his balance, is knocked off kilter when Kate comes into his life, displays her musical talent, and becomes a band member. In this fascinating journey into the life of a devoted musician, Jeanine Binder examines how love can both change and strengthen one's pursuit of happiness.
An amazing read! I can highly recommend this novel; especially for anyone who ever strummed a guitar, sat at a keyboard, or dreamed about becoming a rock star.
A concerto of emotions
You might be wondering what sets this book apart from others in it's genre - I certainly was when I opened the book and was confronted with what I thought might be a "strong black woman" trope, the type that just needs a good man. The truth is, while Kate is both strong and romantic, she also has real emotions, flaws, and smarts. She is a fully developed 3-dimensional character who isn't defined by her strength alone. She makes decisions and follows through while continuing to embracer her own flaws.
Kate dials with the rigors of domestic abuse, divorce, and heartache. Any one of these things could knock a person down.
