Title: The Marakon Ways

Author: Griffin Hehmeyer

Narrator: Nico Wu

Format: Unabridged

Length: 43 mins

Language: English

Release date: 12-09-13

Publisher: Create Digital Publishing

Genres: Kids, Ages 5-7

Publisher's Summary:

The Marakon Ways is an entertaining fantasy story that appeals to the child in all of us.

Lily and Daniel are about to embark on an amazing adventure to an unknown world called Wolf Land. They learn that they must save a strange breed of wolf-people and an entire way of life from Arclos and his five evil sons using an ancient martial art called the Marakon Ways.

The book has been a surprise success with great reviews on the Amazon and press coverage in the US, yet The Marakon Ways is written and created by an eight year old boy and his vivid imagination. In his mothers words here is how she found out she had an author in the family:

"My 8 year old son, Griffin, just published a fantasy novel called The Marakon Ways. I helped him with the publishing, but not the writing. In fact, he didnt even tell me that he was writing a book.

The story was inspired by a make-believe game Griffin had been playing for several years with a good friend of his named Maya. In the game he was the king of the wolves, just like Makamom is in the book. Griffin says of the writing process;

When I first started this book, I had a hard time thinking of ideas. As I got closer to the ending it was easier to think of what to say.

I knew of the book's existence, but I hadnt yet read any of it. When I received the completed draft, I was somewhat hesitant to undertake the reading such a large chunk of text written by an 8 year old - even if that 8 year old was my own son. To my surprise, however, the book turned out to be really good. As a colleague said when I shared a draft with him, The book kept me reading it until the end, in one pass. It is a very interesting, clever, and engrossing story. I also enjoyed watching my husband read the book to our other three children each night before bed. They laughed and gasped at all the right places, and begged their dada to continue reading well after lights out."

My 7 year old enjoyed having this book read to him

My 7 year old enjoyed having this book read to him, and connected with the humor. There were a lot of giggles about unexpected twists and expressions, excited exclamations of 'Wooo!' when the action sequences grew intense, and a delight in and acceptance of things in the story that to a grownup like me seemed odd, but to a kid must just be part of a good story. I'm so glad that the author's young imagination was captured in this way.

but what I really love about it is that it helps illustrate the kinds ...

The Marakon Ways is an engaging and well-written story, but what I really love about it is that it helps illustrate the kinds of things that young authors can accomplish _right_now_, without waiting to be told that they're old enough to quit thinking about what they want to do what they grow up. Also, loved the sibling testimonials on the back.

Imaginative and Thrilling!

This story is action-packed, imaginative, and fun to read. The class illustrations are fantastic. The story behind it is an inspiring tale as well for any kids interested in self-publishing process. I can't wait until Book Two is released!

Members Reviews:

Great Read

This is a great read both for children to read themselves and for adults to be reading to younger children. Both find they want to just keep going to read to the end. What a great job Sal did in having Boochi be a character who when you are reading, you believe that you are listening to a real conversation, and a very charming young lady. Cannot wait for the next volume and keep them coming.....

Fun ~ fun ~ FUN!

Here we have a story of a polite and respectful young lady who has a taste for mystery and adventure!

Thoroughly fun and engrossing with the promise of more stories to come!

Adults and children alike....let your imaginations soar with Boochi Malloochi!

THE ADVENTURES OF BOOCHI MALLOOCHI: THE HUNT FOR TREASURE

I loved The Adventure of Boochi Malloochi: The hunt for treasure. I really enjoyed reading Volume 1 and can not wait for 2 to come out. My kids ages 7 and 3 loved it as well and are very excited to see what is going to happen with the treasure chest. Great Read!

My 7 year old wouldn't let me put it down!

My 7 year old is an avid reader, I can usually get him to put a book down when it is bedtime, but not Boochi Malloochi! He was engrossed during the whole read and just HAD to finish. He laughed, smiled and even noticed Boochi's great manners. He can't wait to find out what is going to happen next. I would highly recommend this book for your little readers.

Boochi Malloochi: A role model for Adventurers

Just finished reading Sal Corrente's The Adventures of Boochi Malloochi and I am enthralled with Boochi's sense of adventure. She is an amazing character, and Sal Corrente is a gifted author. Parent's don't miss out on this first in a series that promises to please children of all ages...and parents too!
