Naxos Classics

My kids grew up listening to Naxos CDs on the way to school and long car rides. Over the years we all learned so much about history and science. Our favorites were the Tales of Troy and the Ancient Greeks. Stories from the Old Testament is a good title, and my kids enjoyed listening to it. I highly recommend any of the Naxos Junior Classics.

Not as good as the original

Not nearly as good as the Hello Goodbye Window. As another review points out, it starts out interesting, but then gets a little long and rambling. I think the author is anything but a racist, but it certainly is frowned upon, these days, to write something like the main character's comment about her hair, with no context provided. I imagine the idea is to start a dialog between the reading adult and read to child about the topic in question. If you are a discerning parent/guardian, and willing to tackle a difficult topic, then there's no need to shun this book. It's something best left to parental discretion, though, and you might as well be aware of this content before buying. My son seemed engaged enough while reading this book but, overall, I would recommend The Hello Goodbye Window, over this sequel, simply because it's a better written, more interesting story.

Magnificent

Most excellent book. Very entertaining for young and old alike. I love the sense of association & feeling of belonging that it commences to the children.

Just like my grand daughter!

We originnaly got the book at the library and when I read it to her she said that girl sounds familiar. I said she sounds like you! She laughed and we read the book several times. So i decided to get itfor her birthday

Title: Master Cobblersawl

Author: Brothers Grimm

Narrator: Laura Paton

Format: Unabridged

Length: 7 mins

Language: English

Release date: 11-27-13

Publisher: Naxos AudioBooks

Genres: Kids, Ages 5-7

Publisher's Summary:

This is a story from the Grimms' Fairy Tales 2 collection.

Jacob and Wilhelm's first book of fairy tales, Children's and Household Tales, published in 1812, included 86 folktales and was an instant success. Shortly thereafter, the brothers incorporated 70 more stories in their next volume of Grimms' Fairy Tales. This continued for six more editions! The complete collection contains over 200 stories, and is probably the best-known work of German literature.

Filled with fantasy, magic, and talking animals, these enchanting tales for children often teach a lesson about moral values, and right from wrong. Reader Laura Paton's warmth and flair for characters, paired with bright and exciting classical music, results in a memorable production that younger listeners will enjoy again and again.

In this title you will find The Wolf and the Seven Little Kids, The Pack of Ragamuffins, Brother and Sister, The Three Snake-Leaves, The Boots of Buffalo-Leather, The Drummer, The Three Spinners, Old Rinkrank, The Grave Mound, The Master Thief, The Hare and the Hedgehog, The Little Folks' Presents, Master Cobbler's Awl, and The Three Sluggards.

Editorial Reviews:

Known as much for their morality as their sometimes-macabre themes, the fairy tales written by Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm in the 19th century experience a modern revival in this refreshingly narrated collection. Voice actor Laura Patton brings a brightness and vitality to her performance, voicing characters with great gusto, including a brave young king, an intimidating wolf, and a blustery giant. Children and adults alike will be charmed, chilled, and enthralled by these 14 stories carefully chosen from the more than 200 originally written by the Brothers Grimm.

Boring

Not something that will keep a younger child's attention for the entire short book. I read it to my 4 y/o once, maybe twice and then donated it because it didn't keep her interested.

take away a great lesson from this read

Both my youngest and oldest child really enjoyed the positive message this story had to offer. The illustrations are inspiring.
