Kids book

Funny old story about how the camel got his "humph". My kids love it and we read it every night.

This story is just ridiculous!

This is a book about how man made animals their work slaves.. The camel refused to work so was given a hump as a punishment... Dumbest story ever!

Publisher's Summary:

This brand new tale features an old friend - Santa Claus. The story begins at the North Pole where Santa and the elves are working feverishly to get ready for another Christmas. We see right into Santa's workshop, meet the elves and see how hard the talented crew works to get ready for the big night. The workload has grown so much, the elves had to figure out and implement a new strategy just to complete the work. Santa doesn't know about this and the elves know he will NOT approve of this change.

On Christmas Eve, we follow Santa on his journey as he descends upon one small, old town of Bishop Hollow - the hometown of the Brickels. We meet and get to know The Brickels as well as spend Christmas with all of them - well, almost all of them. There are two brothers named Peter and Jayson and they have a little dog Nealie. Their mom and dad cannot spend Christmas with them, so the boys spend Christmas with their lovable grandparents - Mama and Papa Brickel, along with Papa's hound dog, Newman, and all of Mama's cats.

A great Christmas book for every member of your family!

Our kids absolutely loved The Eve to Believe. Every night during the holiday season, I would read pages from the book to our children and, when the section came to an end, they asked if we could just go a few more pages because they were so excited to see what happened next. The Eve to Believe is the perfect Christmas gift for any kid, parent, or nostalgic person who longs for the personification of old-timer holiday spirit. Highly recommended!

Five Stars

Great Christmas story for kids--loved the tale and the illustrations are beautiful! A new "classic" in the making!

Terrific Christmas Story, AMAZING Illustrations

This book is GREAT. We bought it when the author came to our local library

to give a book talk.

We bought the book at 1pm. By 5pm, my 3rd grader had read the book once and

was starting on the 2nd reading. She LOVES the book, and especially loves the characters and their

illustrations.

She showed her school librarian, who ordered it for their collection.

A New Tradition

This is a fabulous story! The illustrations jump to life and we have come to know and love the Brickel family from Bishop Hollow. It is definitely going to be a Christmas Eve story time tradition for our family!

Holiday Classic!

This is a wonderful book! I love it! The illustrations are great and the story is adorable. My son really enjoyed this book too. I would love to read more stories about the Brickels!

Magical Family Favorite

My husband and I and our two year old son love this book; we first borrowed it from the library and had to get our own copy. The illustrations are full of detail and little surprises, but not so detailed that my son is uninterested, rather poring over the pages on his own. He also sits still for reading it aloud despite the length. The language has a subtle rhythm, a bit hypnotic, making it easy to read aloud. The reader is naturally pulled along as the pace of the story increases and then slows with the spacious exhalation at the end.

The story itself is deeply satisfying. While it may be read as a caution against commercialism and a frantic "go go go" life, I think it is more an example of balance and "knowing thyself". The boy is happy in his solitary life, but does feel the lure of companionship and enjoys new experiences with his friends. When he is burned out and returns to simple solitude he writes letters to his friends and plans to visit them "someday". We can dive into the world, whirling with new things, experiences, ideas, people, and then also give our true selves room to expand.

"There is a luxury in being quiet in the heart of chaos" Virginia Woolf

I love reading it to my

Precious book! I love reading it to my grandchildren

Great and thoughtful read aloud for older kids too.

This is one of those picture books that is really meant for older kids. It's thoughtful and funny and the illustrations are tremendously detailed and suit the book's quirkiness perfectly. It is really kind of a morality tale--about how we always want more and more and more and are never satisfied with what we have. As well as that plot, the beautiful natural place where the young boy lives at the end of the world is destroyed by the developer who just keeps building and building and building more and more and more. It's a bit lengthy for young kids, but oh, how they need to hear it. I've read it out loud to second through sixth graders; it's the kind of book that's a great discussion starter for all ages. And the illustrations really draw you in. Beautifully done.

This book is wonderful and I love the illustrations!

To Thine Ownself Be True

The narrator of ME, ALL ALONE, AT THE END OF THE WORLD is a boy who lives by himself at the edge of a cliff "at the end of the world." Although he has no friends and is alone, he is quite content. Then one day a stranger appears. His name is Constantine Shimmer and he can't believe the boy is alone and that he doesn't really do anything for fun. "I think things are going to change around here," Shimmer says. And boy, do they ever. Shimmer turns the quiet paradise at the end of the boy into the most exciting place in the world; a place where there's so much fun, there isn't time to think. At first, the boy gets caught up in everything.
