WORST NARRATOR EVER!!! BUT LOVE THIS SERIES....
I have probably ordered over 100 books on audible and this has to be the worst narrator ever! It's a complete shame because I love this series by Vikki Lewis Thompson and I can't wait for the next book to be released in July. I've suffered through listening to this narrator in the past but this one was by far the most painful. I hope they use a different narrator on any future releases or I might have to resort to listening to nails running down a chalk board instead as that would be less annoying.
    It was ok.
I was very disappointed in the narrator; important location names mispronounced (teton & shoshone) and the wrong accent (location is Wyoming not Texas!). That made it very hard for me to get into the story line.
Great book..can not stand the narrator
I agree with the other reviews here. I am an avid Audible user and have the Blaze Subscription. The author gives us a great, fun book which is throughly destroyed by this narrator. There are odd pauses mid-sentence which jars the listener from the story. Also the narrator mispronounces several well known areas in the Cheyenne Area which again pulls the reader from the story.
I could not finish the audio book because of the reader. Read it on my Kindle instead
Story was Great - Narrator, not so much
The story was another great installment of the Chase Ranch but this narrator drove me insane with her fake accents making the men sound like imbeciles. I think in this case I'd rather read the book then listen to it.
    Hot book... Horrible Narrator.
I started the series with this book, and while thats probably not the best way to start a series it was definitely a great book. The book was hot in all the right areas and a great story. The author writes a great book and has me hooked, now if only the narrator didnt ruin the feel of the book. An hour in I wanted to just go rent the book so I didnt have to listen to her horrible reading. She missed all the key areas and the accents she used made me cringe and completely ruined the images produced by great wording. I will never listen to a book narrated by this woman again.

Cops, crimes& magic make for a pretty decent read
Touching Silver is the second book in the Silver Maiden Trilogy by Jamie Craig. It has been awhile since I read a more traditional crime/mystery novel, and I enjoyed Touching Silver. In Touching Silver, the mystery waiting to be uncovered revolves around a coin, missing girls, and a killer gang lord. Cold Case Detective Olivia Wright teams up with Detective Isaac McGuire when their cases unite to arrest the gang lord responsible behind missing girls and violence. Things get complicated when Olivia and Isaac find they are attracted to each other, and Isaac becomes a target.
I enjoyed the characters. Olivia is a strong, tough female who doesn't need a man to protect her, but finds that having Isaac at her back is not a bad thing. Isaac, the tough and efficient cop, comes to trust and rely on Olivia. Isaac and Olivia are good together, their characters personalities balance each other out and they have some pretty hot sparks. At the same time, their practicality balance out the emotionality between Nathan and Remy.
The concept of the Silver Maiden, this magical coin that has abilities unknown, is different and interesting. It gives the story that paranormal, magical element that creates intrigue and mystery. There is still so much mystery surrounding the coin, and I am quite curious to learn more about it.
I don't really have a lot of specific negatives for Touching Silver. The writing was pretty good, the flow was okay, the characters were interesting. I just didn't really LOVE the book. Overall, I would say that Jamie Craig effectively brought a new, magical element to the crime and mystery genre. I will read more of Jamie Craig's in the future, and I will be looking forward to the third installment in the Silver Maiden Trilogy.
story with a side of steam
This was my first read by this author. It's also in a series. One thing that is important to me in a series book is that they can be read as stand alone. Somehow, someway, I always end up reading series out of order. I very rarely catch a series from the first book.
Thankfully there were very few plot points that required reading of the prior books.
The series actually pivots around the evil character and everyone who is chasing after him instead of the good character and everyone they chase.

    Decent Story
I listened to this as an audiobook which was narrated by Leslie Bellair. Horrendous narration! She narrated all the character voices. Male and Female. She did not alter her voice at all...with the exception of the villain's voice. The word YIKES comes to mind.
I didn't hate this story. The characters were a bit one dimensional and the dialogue was stilted. Derek was sweet and innocent...truly innocent...but Vanessa was über aggressive. For someone who was a widow, she was very handsy with Derek. Very unsexy.
And the villian...oh yes the "villian". I saw that one coming from about page three. But poor Vanessa missed it by miles. And the villian was more of a pathetic loser than a villian...especially from the character description and voice. *Sigh*
So, on a whole this was a decent story. It won't be a best seller but it won't end up on the trash heap either.
Her Kind of Hero by Kathleen Dienne
Two years after her husband's death, Vanessa thinks she might be ready to get back into the dating world, and she has her eyes set on a man whom she has known for quite some time. Derek was her husband's best friend, and has become her really good friend in the years following his death. He fixes things around her house, they go out on day trips together, and overall is just a kind, gentle man. Owning a farm, Derek has built up those perfect abs and arm muscles, although his day job is just working at the library on the university campus in their town. Vanessa also works there and has another friend Anthony who has been a supportive friend throughout the years.
Vanessa is ready to turn things up a notch with Derek, noticing her physical attraction to him is really coming to life. She can see an intensity in Derek's eyes when she comes on to him, but he is shy, and awkward, and her advances never seem to work. She doesn't give up though and soon, she wears down his defenses. Besides the blooming romance, something scary and creepy is happening to Vanessa. She has a peeping Tom. Worse, she is receiving prank phone calls and pictures of herself in the mail. She turns to Derek to keep her safe,
Her Kind of Hero just makes me go aw[...] Derek...oh Derek. A shy, beta hero who has the muscles and abdomen of a god. I mean - is there a better combination? Although we only get Vanessa's point of view, I actually didn't miss Derek's side. He comes through has her gentle giant. He is awkward, and so shy and just so adorable.

    An above average Blaze
This was really cute. Hero and heroine have been friends since childhood, the other woman had a good personality, and the twelve dates of Christmas part was very well done. The heat level was low for a Blaze. The narrator was decent but the voice for male characters was too low and breathy. This is a good holiday listen for romance fans.

    Couldn't get past the narrator
I enjoyed the first installment of this series and was looking forward to getting part two of the story with this novel. However, the squeaky voice of the narrator ruined this book for me within the first half hour. It's impossible to visualize a rugged cowboy who sounds like a 14-year-old girl relating her junior high experiences. Someone needs to screen these things better.
    Enjoying this series
This was a most amazing romantic and sensual journey and I absolutely couldn't put it down. The Chance family, their brothers, their friends made the story come more alive. Ambushed was about trust, coming home and in taking a "chance". It was a wonderful love story and a wonderful addition to The Sons of Chance Miniseries. With a better narrator that tried different voices for the characters I think this story could have really come alive..instead it was just a read but thanks to Vicki Lewis Thompson it was a heck of a listen/read.
    Heated Romance
Morgan O'Connelli's return to small town Wyoming is motivated by a need to settle down, to find roots, after a life of constantly moving with her parents. But a husband and children are the last things on her list of to -do's especially when she spent so much of her childhood playing babysitter to her six younger siblings. But a chance meeting with Gabe Chance during the 4th of July parade threatens to upset all of that.
Gabe Chance, youngest of the Chance brothers, has no plans beyond getting his horse, Top Draw, into the cutting horse hall of fame. But his brother's penny pinching threatens to put paid to that. Perhaps a brief, sensual encounter with a woman he'd known briefly in high school, is just the thing to stop him from pounding his brother's face in.
Neither of them want more than some shared fun, after all. So why would there be a risk? And maybe his brother needs to stop being so uptight about Morgan being a Realtor. She's not after the ranch, no matter what Jack might think!
But the attraction between them is undeniable and the threat of it turning into something more might well be more than either of them are prepared, or willing, to handle.
The humor and sensuality that runs through this book is undeniable, and combine to produce a lovely story that I truly enjoyed. As an audio book it also worked very well for me, and the narrator had a pleasant voice that lent itself easily to the sensuality of some of the scenes.
    HOT, HOT, HOT
I loved the narrator's soft, sexy voice.

    Publisher's Summary:
Casey Ellis has arrived at a lonely place in her life. Her mother remains in a comatose state several years after a terrible accident -- and now her father has died.
Although Casey never met him, she held an oblique hope that someday her father might acknowledge her. She watched from afar as the illustrious Dr. Cornelius Unger became a celebrated psychologist and teacher. Through it all, she clung to the illusive dream that someday he might take notice of her -- and now it is too late.
It comes as a shock when she learns that he has left her his beautiful townhouse in Boston's exclusive Beacon Hill. Sensing that her father had an ulterior motive in leaving her the house, Casey searches the house and finds the first part of what could be a novel, a journal, or a case study for one of her father's clients. The manuscript tells the harrowing story of a young woman named Jenny who was sexually abused by her father and emotionally abused by her mother. When her mother was murdered, her father was sent to prison. After only six years in jail, he is about to be released, and Jenny knows she has to escape. Her way out appears in the form of a man named Pete who shows up on his motorcycle and offers to whisk her away.
Convinced the story is true, Casey sets out to find the rest of the pages and help Jenny. With the discovery of each additional segment, she learns more about Jenny, about herself, and about Cornelius Unger. The manuscript, when fully assembled, proves to be the key to understanding not only her father's past but also that of the man Casey has come to love.

    Members Reviews:
Sensual Cowboy Vamp - wrong narrator for this book
Of course, I'm listening to these out of order, but fortunately it doesn't make that much of a difference to when it comes to enjoyability.
Cody has been a vampire since the end of the Civil war. In one night he lost his humanity, his mother, sister in law, and nephew (or niece - I admit I can't recall which one it was there). But his chance to kill the vampire responsible, and regain his humanity, is waiting for him in Skull Creek, Texas. All he has to do is kill the one who made him. Kill him and it all ends.
But a chance meeting with Miranda Rivers, a woman who has done everything she can to be exactly the opposite of her sisters and mother, throws a spanner in the works. Miranda wants one night of wildness, to put an end to her fantasy of cowboys before she settles down with the 'right' man. That calm, reliable, respectable man who has asked her to marry him. Exactly the opposite of the men her mother picked, and the men her sisters still pick.
One night that Cody is happy to give her.
One small problem. Miranda isn't the type he can forget, especially when it turns out she lives in Skull Creek, and he's going to have to wait five days before his target turns up.
I love the premise and the idea of these vampires who live off not just blood, but sexual energy. The only thing that spoiled this for me was the narrator. He was great at the male voices, but his attempts at female voices were - to be honest - painful!
    Good but not great
Enjoyable book but, whilst the narrator did a great job on the male voices, he should go back to Narration School for the female voices 'cause they were just cringeworthy (even on double speed).
I have already downloaded the rest of the Braddock Boys series that is available when I downloaded this one because they were on sale.
Worth my credit? Mmmmm it's 50/50 yes it was a good listen but I've had better, if they're on sale then definately but I'm not frantic to get to book 2.
Liked the story line but didn't like the narrator
Is there anything you would change about this book?
    The narrator
What did you like best about this story?
    The stroy it self
How could the performance have been better?
Stop trying the fake female voice
Do you think Cody needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
not really. The story ends well.
Enjoyed the book, hated the narration
Although I thoroughly enjoyed this book, the narration was terrible when it came to the female voices.
    Annoying narration
Didnt care for the narration of this one book. I found the voice that he used, while reading Mirandas parts, extremely annoying. I eventually gave up listening halfway through the book. Wasnt too crazy about the idea that Miranda was considering engagement to someone else and thought that it was okay to sleep with Cody either.

    Kind of boring...
I'm about half-way through this book and and struggling to continue. The premise of this story suggests a fast-paced, moving adventure, yet the characters are not engaging in the least. No excitement or chemistry at all.
    Way to slow
I think they better get a differant narator for this book. I love Lisa Jackson books but this one is not one of them. I wanted to stop listening to it but since I paid for it I will finish it. There is no excitement in this book. Way to boring
    HUMMMMM
Well, I do love most everything that Lisa writes, and I love this one too. It just didn't have her usual punch. Liked the narrator.
    Laura Moats
    Another good Lisa Jackson....
I enjoyed this audiobook and give it 4 stars in total even though the story (plot) is slightly weak-- it has interesting problems thrown in but the way they are solved is somewhat disappointing and incomplete at times. Also the emotions run high but then suddenly dissapate even though the problem wasn't satisfactorily solved or eliminated -I don't think real peoples' emotions work that way. All in all it was a good listen and I would (probably will at some point) listen to it again. Next time I will be prepared for a few frustrating parts.

Great Writer, Great Narrator ! Loved it!
What I liked about this book, aside from the humor and lack of cliches, is that the characters have flaws but you love them anyway. I don't always like contemporary romance plots, but this story is great . The plot is fresh and I got emotionally involved with the love story. Easy to Digest
Not a bad story at all. Lacked the common bad-guy scenario of many chick lit novels, so one could relax and enjoy other mysteries. The author uses creative descriptions and few cliches and I genuinely enjoyed the characters. The narrator did a fine job with the female voices and general story telling. However, her attempt at male voices drove me nutty. They ended up sounding rather dumpy...more like dim-witted garbage truck drivers than educated Malibu elites. Just not sexy. She actually did a better job with the Latino male character than the others... but even that was weird. I'd wished she just delivered their lines in her own voice. Oh well. Otherwise, I enjoyed it.
    smalltownIDgirl
I loved this book and Nicole Poole reading is my favorite. She always does great. She is the reason I bought this book, and I was very glad I did. It never left me bored and went too fast.
    Barriers and Barndoors
Even though I'm an old retired male, I enjoy romances and ones like this with some comedic moments. I grew up in a household like was described for Nikki's childhood. To gain favor all that was required was complete quiet. I did enjoy Jay's and Nikki's predilections towards each other while attempting to remain hidden in their own ways, behind their own barriers, yet both falling for each other and not seeming to want to acknowledge that crack in their hearts barrier.
    A Great Steamy Read!
Fun, Flirty, and Sexy A great mix, and match of character. I Loved It!
