A couple years ago, "Intervention" did a special episode in Philadelphia about the opioid epidemic. Bill was was approached in Kensington by a camera crew who asked to follow him around the city and show people what it is really like. They also gave him the opportunity to go to treatment with his girlfriend at the time. Julianne remembers watching his story and remembering that she hoped so much that he had made it. He tells his story of getting involved with intervention, being given the opportunity to go to LA for treatment. He covers how he lost his relationship in early recovery, losing his sister to addiction, losing his niece to a freak car accident, relapsing, recovering and starting a non profit with his mom. Meet Mike Fiore! He tells us that after detoxing from a years long drug habit, he lost his mother. She was the person he felt closest to and the person that he loved the most. In turn lost the person who cared and loved him the most. He no longer had a safety net, or a mom to fall back on for help. Mike decided addiction had already taken so much from him that, it would not also take his mothers death from him. He decided get sober, stay sober and since then has spent every second building a life of sobriety connecting and helping others stay sober! He created Inspire2Inspire, is a partner in the Sober App and even collaborated on a recovery based clothing line, where the funds go towards helping others get sober. Listen to his story and hear the motivation in his voice. If you take one thing away from this episode, take away that there is always HOPE!

Julianne shares her experience of being in the hospital for internal bleeding, blood transfusions, endoscopies and more. She shares about the journey of noticing patterns in her body and being aware of what is going on in her body because during active addiction you're not very aware of these things while in active addiction. Donna shares her struggles with the perception of her mother and how she viewed her as a young woman. She talks about her severe codependency and how our mother's day plans were sidelined by COVID and her codependent behavior. Gratitude is a big part of this episode. The girls talk about the ways in which they find gratitude in their daily life. Of course, discussion about disordered eating is always mentioned when you get these two together. They talk about losing excitement about sobriety and realizing they need to amp up their programs again. They talk about going to meetings and what that means for each of them. They talk about community and how you have to "stay connected, to be protected" and all of those AA and NA platitudes that are SO true! Donna talks about being triggered by alcohol even though it's not even her drug of choice and so much more!

Justin shares with us how he experimented in high school, became a addicted to crack but straightened out before joining the armed forces and volunteering for a deployment in a war zone. He shares deeply personal experiences with us and tells us how it was, what it's like now and what his future plans are.
