Have you ever heard the claim that there’s no way Noah could fit millions of species on the ark? Well, the Bible doesn’t say Noah needed to take two of every species. After all, species is a modern word.
Instead Genesis says Noah took two of every “kind.” Researchers have discovered kind is usually equivalent to “family” in our modern classification system. And Noah only had to take land-dwelling, air-breathing creatures on the ark with him.
There’re only about 1,400 kinds that Noah had to take with him. With two of a kind, seven of some—that’s only a few thousand animals at most on the ark. There was plenty of space!
