The “Mother Road” of America or otherwise known as “Main Street of America” started in the 1920’s and wound from Chicago to LA before being largely replaced by interstate freeways in the late 1950’s. This is a marketing gimmick that works. All the truck makers appreciate that almost 25% of all trucks are sold in Texas. They use the Texas State Fair as an annual testing ground and supersize their base truck models with niceties that Texans and other Americans will love – and then they call it the Texas Edition. This marketing campaign in 1985 was launched with the edginess of Texas amidst the “Keep America Beautiful” campaign. Celebrities and pro athletes have supported this campaign ever since and it made a huge impact on litter in Texas and how Texans love to keep their state litter free. Enjoy!
