149-If our relationship with God depended on our consistency, none of us would stand for long. Scripture shows that even with sincere intentions, mankind cannot keep perfect promises. That is why God established a system of forgiveness not based on human ability, but as a gift.
Under the old covenant, sin was covered through sacrifice.Under the new covenant, it was removed completely through Jesus. One sacrifice. Once and for all. This changes the starting point of our faith. We are not striving to be forgiven; we are living from forgiveness.
This episode challenges the idea that we must continually ask for what has already been fully given. If forgiveness required death, and JesUs already took that death, what is left to be done? Instead of living in cycles of fear and confession, we are invited to live in confidence and gratitude.
When we understand the finished work of Christ, our focus changes from sin to Him. We still grow and acknowledge where we fall short, but our relationship with God is no longer rooted in fear. It is rooted in grace, freedom, and the unshakable truth that we are already fully forgiven.
