If you where exhausted by the third book keep hanging on I am assuming you have read the others and will just get down do brass tack's ,Beth is fed up with her life and is on the search for the girl she left at the station , there's not mush else to say if you liked the others you will like this one . It all come's to a very dramatic end big shocker ,again hat's off to Ann Bannon for having the courage to follow her own heart like all of her charters in these brilliant blasts of the past.

For what I thought would be an interesting story was only made less so by the use of a female narrator in a story dominated and told by a male character. Not a wise choice, although I am sure Ms. Harvey's voice is more suited to that of a story with a female voice. Pass this one up.

Why bother...

I listened to about 1/3 of the book and then deleted it. It reminded me vefy much of the stuff written in the '80s and sold as porn. I've lived through the period and don't find it interesting to read about pathetic people, regardless of their ethnic backgound.

Erotica with a twist.

This book of short stories definitely took erotic tales to another level. While I've never been all into werewolves and things of that nature this story was well written and the narration was on point. I enjoyed the eroticism of these short stories very much.

Kept me awake on a long road trip... :)

The short stories all feature a prince figure, either royalty or someone who comes to the rescue of the other man. Sex and love ensue. Happily ever after or happily for now are assured. As with any collection by different authors, some stories were very good, others so-so. JL Merrow and Josephine Myles were standouts. In my opinion, the better stories were the ones set in modern times as they require less of a suspension of disbelief and sometimes led with humor. I felt that a few of the stories set in more romantic, "princely" times fell prey to anachronistic language that tore me from the story.

I Wasn't Impressed

I think I would have enjoyed this more as a novel. The reader killed a lot of the stories for me.

The stories weren't bad. For short stories, they were sweet and entertaining. If you are a reader who dislikes lack of depth or development (as I am), you should probably look for a full novel and avoid these short stories.

Boring

The narrator sounded bored, the stories were poor to average. It was hard work finishing the book, will avoid this narrator in future.

The Gender Game imagines what might be a version of actual happenings in the real world. It's fantasy, and the idea of what it might be like for a man to suddenly become a woman is explored in an original way that hasn't been done in any of several movies I've seen on the subject. Mysterious...

If you could sum up The Gender Game in three words, what would they be?

Make a switch, you just might like it...

So, as a short story this is odd.. just freaking odd, BUT engaging in the best ways. More information and backstory would be nice but if your into female revenge in a twisted way then this is perfect. I would have liked the "change" to be more prominant... merely saying his facial hair vanished and he grew bewbs and lower bits was not a great description... I kept thinking of a drag queen... Some parts made me laugh and I do not think that was there intention. So if your bored and wanna read something different and out there, then go ahead and listen up.. I wish the narration had started male, then a female narrator came in.. would have made it more pleasing in the mind I think.
