Will Sam be able to dig out of his financial hole before the short term loan sharks break every bone in his body? What happens when the elder Monroes learn the truth about their son Sammy's poor choices?
Soon, the couple is beset with more problems. Mary Beth's sorority sister disappears causing a county wide search. Hope remains alive that she will return unharmed from her ill-fated liaison.
While this story is suitable for all ages, it contains enough mystery, intrigue, and romance to suit any listener. Once again, the popular narrator Scott Ellis brings the story to life with his skillful reading.

An easy read
This is the first book I've read by this author. In reading the synopsis, this couple appeared in another book by the same author, but I'm glad I'm reading this as a stand alone book since that way I didn't have any previous attachment to the characters.
At first I found the conversation between Mary Beth and Sammy to be a little stilted, but I was soon drawn into the book and finished it in a day. I went into this book with a preconceived idea of what was going to happen, and I'm glad to say I was surprised by the twists and turns of the plot. The mystery was not straight forward but instead had many layers to it. At times I did find some errors (like the misspelling of sought in the last paragraph of chapter one), but that may have been the digital copy I was given and not editorial.
I found myself getting upset with one of the characters, which I feel is a mark of a good writer. In getting upset I realized I had been drawn into the book, and was relating to the characters. The end of the book left me satisfied and I had a smile on my face.
It seems like a big jump in behavior
This book is very narrative and descriptive. The story is mainly in the area of a thriller, a mystery about the disappearance of one of Mary Bethâs Sorority Sisters. There is some intrigue in the book while things are investigated. The book is a bit slow in the beginning and picks up, unfortunately just after the middle of the book it slows down.
I believe the book is supposed to be centered on Mary Beth and Samuel, however we donât have many scenes of them together. When are they together they are supposed to be childhood sweethearts and dating but they treat each other more as just causal friends, not even close friends.
After Sam realizes heâs in trouble with this motorcycle gang and owes them money, he immediately starts âborrowingâ things from people in his dorm to pawn for a short term loan for the bike. It seems like a big jump in behavior, that he would suddenly start stealing and even smart enough to wipe his fingerprints from the goods but didnât know what he was doing was stealing.
Marybeth on the other hand is pre-occupied with the disappearance with her friend. Instead of trying to further question Sam, who knows the shady guy she was last seen with, she just accepts him saying the guy dropped her off.
