This was just not the perfect book for me
Okay, I tried to like this book. Set it down, picked it back up, but after about 10 pages I was done. The author is so gracious and nice, but I just could not get into the characters. I know it is hard to publish anything so major kudos there. Keep believing, it was just not a homerun for me with this one.
Perfect Cowboy story is okay
Perfect Cowboy story is okay. Not bad, but jumpy and rushed, at times. Potential is there, just needed to be fleshed out, developed.
Over 50% of the book is devoted to the second story. In Arranged Marriage/Unwanted, the author failed to establish period or location of the story. Along the way, it finally mentions the lead character is marrying a duke's son. Otherwise, it could have been set in America or any number of locations. Concern over wearing a bustle is mentioned and corset, narrowing it down a bit. References to being from the "southern border" was not specific enough. Establishing time and place is as easy as inserting "Denver, Colorado 1879", for example, above the beginning of the first chapter. It is necessary, IMHO, for the reader to get involved in the story. A little research and more detail is needed.
One other strange habit. Ex: "For you, from Master Irving." Eve said and Jana tried to hide her smile.... This is just bad punctuation. Getting new eyes to proofread and edit would be beneficial. Sorry, this review is more for the author, but I hate to see a potentially competent author sidelined by easily corrected issues. Nothing deep or particularly new or interesting, but has merit.
