  • 19: Worst Margarita Ever!

It may come as a shock, but the Drink Neat Guys enjoy cocktails as well as a nice spirit poured directly from the bottle into the glass and served as is.  Matt experienced on of the worst Margaritas ever in a local restaurant and that prompted a conversation about drink making.  As part of the recording, we sampled a basic Margarita and a new favorite, Tequila Old Fashioned made with tequila but flavored (slightly) with mezcal.  The recipes are below:

    * Basic Margarita (Four Ingredients)* 2 oz GOOD Tequila (recommend Hornitos Reposado)* 1 oz fresh lime juice* 1/2 oz triple sec (or upgrade with an orange liqueur like Gran Gala or Grand Marnier) * 1/2 oz Agave Syrup** Place all ingredients in a shaker with ice. Shake and pour over fresh ice in a rocks glass. Garnish with lime and salt (optional)

    * Tequila Old-Fashioned* 2 oz GOOD Tequila * 1 oz Agave Syrup** 1/4-1/2 oz Mezcal (more makes it smokier)* 2 dashes Bitters* Place all ingredients in a rocks glass. Add ice and stir until chilled. Be sure to express an orange peel, rub along the rim of the glass and drop in as a garnish.

    * *Agave Syrup* Create a simple syrup by creating a 1:1 ratio of Agave Nectar and hot water. Stir until homogenous. Refrigerate and feel free to use it any time a recipe calls for simple syrup. A drop or two of vodka will make it keep longer.

  • 18: Timmy Likes Tequila???

We are kicking of 2020 with a bang and what better way to start a new year than tequila and an open mind. The Drink Neat Guys had planned an episode looking at three really good tequilas, but Matt opened up the liquor cabinet and it became a memorable night. Join us as we continue the war against tequila abuse and spread the word of tequila appreciation. We even have something for our bourbon fans.

The episode is longer than normal but we think is a great conversation. Tell us what you think about the longer format, [email protected]. Thanks for listening.

  • 14: Evan and the Young Guns

This episode started out with sampling Evan Williams White Label Bottled in Bond and quickly turned in to a discussion on young bourbons and branding. I’m sure we are going to alienate some brands, but the bottom line is drink what you like. We are just three guys with three opinions.

We want to hear your opinion. Drop us an email or hit us up on social. And as always, spread the word and tell your friends, because no one should drink alone.

  • 13: You Really Milked That Disney Trip

This is the last of the Walt Disney World Resort recordings. Matt and Ben tried Starr African Rum at Disney’s Animal Kingdom at the Dawa Bar in Harambe Village. You should give this light rum a try if you can find it.

  • 12: Learning from the Maestro

This is last episode from La Cava del Tequila at Epcot. We sampled some Maestro Tequilero Anjeo. I think we have found the tequila for bourbon drinkers.

Taste what’s in your glass before you mix it in your drink. Please, leave us a review and don’t let your friends drink alone. Thanks for listening

  • 11: M-m-m-my Tahona

When we last left our heroes, Matt and Ben were deep inside Disney’s Cave of Wonders (La Cava del Tequila at Epcot’s Mexican Pavilion). After a highly enjoyable flight, something unfamiliar arose from off of the menu, challenging the duo to sample the sweet nectar of the blue agave. Join us as we explore, a heretofore unknown type of tequila known as… Tahona.

Actually, tahona is the old-school method of making tequila, dating back centuries, but the term was new to us. We love to learn and homework is encouraged (in this case). We sampled Volcan cristalino anjeo and El Tesoro reposado and it was gooooooood.

HELP US OUT: leave us a review on Apple Podcasts, tell your friends and MOST IMPORTANTLY, if you know where we can get Volcan or El Tesoro anywhere in the southeastern part of the United States, LET US KNOW! We’ve got to have it.

Thanks for listening. Let us know what you’d like to hear or ask your questions. We are on FaceBook, Twitter and Instagram. Hit us up.
